I've had the same thing happen twice on old beaters I sold. Both times I got a phone call, told them I sold the vehicle, and that was that. <shrug>

It's just an example how things can come back to you. If it had been a gun that was used in a murder saying "I sold it" might not work so well. Just like some people will only do a car title transfer at the DMV instead of just signing the title, some people will use more caution than others when selling a firearm. It's all good if it works for you.

^^^^This. Verify the name on the PTC/P matches that on the DL, and check the pic on the DL to ensure it resembles the purchaser.

I get to be a witness to a private party sale today. Friend is selling a rifle and wants me there as a witness and sad to saw... protection. I'll be packing 3 guns on me concealed during the sale... personally I wouldn't be doing the sale she is doing... selling a ex husband back his own rifle... even after he has stocked her and was abusive... he can't float a child support payment... but has cash to buy back one of his guns he lost in the divorce... really....

Tell her not to do it. Sell his rifle to someone else, and use the cash to support the kids. Biggest no-brainer of the year :D

If the case you mention i true, I'll even do a transfer to the buyer for free to help the lady out. We know some women with bum babies daddies, not cool.

Really should reccomend synthetic if you are going to be tough on your stocks, it will hold up better overtime than wood.

I'm thinking he bounced the child support payment on purpose so he would have funds for the rifle... this guy is a snake when it comes to stuff like this...

She needs money really bad and he is offering more than any pawn show would give her... but after you figure the money she should of got for child support he is getting the rifle cheap... Fvcking a$shole.

What rifle is it and how much is he giving her? You can send via PM....could probably get her more for it.

So, I suppose he doesn't realize that buying property from her that is legally hers does nothing to absolve him of the child support he is legally obligated to pay...

Make damn sure she gets a receipt if she goes through with it that says EXACTLY what was exchanged and for how much. Frankly I agree with Grousemaster, don't let her sell it to him. Put it up for sale on here for her, bet someone will offer just as much.

Is being behind on child support a disqualifier from firearms ownership? How about the other stuff he's done?
