They can charge whatever they want, it doesn't mean people have to pay it. No one has a gun to anyone's head forcing them to buy from X or Y dealer, do they?

Heck, if someone wants to give me $100 for a box of 525 .22LR ammo, I'll be more than happy to sell them one. Same as if someone wants to give me a million dollars for my house, car, t-shirt, etc. It's not personal, it's just business. I'm not attached to any material item, so everything is for sale for the right price. It doesn't pay to be emotional about business because emotion-based decisions are usually expensive in way or another. GM and other businesses aren't emotional. You want it? Pay. If not, then not.

The 2A states that we have the right to bear arms, but nowhere in there does it state that those arms and supplies for them must be affordable. Do I like paying higher prices? No. Of course not. Who does? You can either barter and if a price can't be agreed upon that you like, either walk away or buy it at a less-than-desirable price for you in order to get the item you want. I ended up paying .45 a round for 1,000 rounds of .45ACP not-too-long ago, which is a far cry from the .25 I paid 6 months earlier. Oh well. Supply and demand, prices people want to sell it for, that's the way it goes. No point in bitching about it. My only regret is the fact I'm not the one offering .223/5.56 ammo, PMAGS, AR-15 lowers, parts and rifles, etc for big bucks right now. Not everyone will buy, and that's ok. Some will :)

This isn't the first thread about high prices, and it won't be the last; in fact, I've posted a similar answer like the one above in another thread not-too-long ago; and I'm sure I will again.

It's weird with guns... if prices shot up on tires, I don't think people would complain as much.... heck, a month ago, gasoline was $2.99 a gallon and now it's almost $4.00 a gallon (but slowly declining after a fast increase), not a single post about here, and not a peep. I just don't get the outrage at gun, ammo, parts, accessories prices, etc. Notice you NEVER see someone posting stating "damn man... I just can't keep this ammo in stock, guns or mags in stock, and I'm selling it at 10x the normal price!! This SUCKS man!! It's UNFAIR!! I can't keep any inventory. Life is Hell!!" You only see posts where people complain about the prices and in the back of their mind think, but will never admit publicly "DAMN man.. I wish that was me making that sweet bank selling gun stuff. DAMN if I'd only have known. 20/20 hindsight sucks!!" I'll admit it. I wish I knew and stockpiled stuff to sell at over-inflated prices. HELL YES!! Next time, I'll be prepared.

Well, you have a ton of .22 ammo to sell. I'd say you are prepared.

I am, to a degree, but not like I'd like to be.

I wish I had a ton more .45ACP both in target and JHP, a Ruger 10/22, an AR-15, a Benali M4, that bunker the guy in Kansas bought for 40k back in the 1980s and he now lives in (it's a refurbished missile silo/base that's underground). a ton more food, medical supplies, gold and silver, and the list goes on.

Someone mentioned that they try to push a protection plan? Well seeing as I have had to send my Taurus in to get repaired by their factory and had to pay $60 each way for shipping, insurance, and FFL fee's it would have been nice if I had a $29.99 protection plan for the firearm in order for them to go through all that fun instead of me.

And I always have found their prices on ammo and other things to be reasonable, anything I have ever bought from them was always under MSRP.

Just my opinion though haha each Gander store is totally different :D

If true, I think you unnecessarily spent a bunch of money.

If I remember correctly, we can send a firearm to a manufacture or gunsmith for repair with out using a dealer to tranfer any thing. Reason being we are not selling it nore transfering ownership, just a repair, rebuild or customization.

Taurus has a life time warranty, they might make you pay shipping to them but they ship back on thier dime.

Yep. The repair station can ship directly back to owner, as well. No FFL needed either end.

I shop at Gander. If the price is too much I shop around.

Funny how guys who hate a store so much still go in and shop.

I do not understand the vitriol aimed at GM. If they were as bad as many claim there bad prices and bad customer service would drive them out of business. Instead they are expanding?

I shop where I can get the best deal. GM, Cabela's, Walmart, Locals...

I always try to buy from a local shop when I am heading to a hunting or fishing adventure. Even if just a little something. Save some little thing you need or just an impulse buy. It is nice to help keep the little guys in the small towns open.

How would it even be possible for you to pay for return shpping? (let alone FFL fees, unless you insisted on using an FFL and they said "F it, let's make this clown pay for return shipping" because using an FFL was a hassle for them.) Many manufacturers try to get you to pay for shiping to them, but you would have to request an invoice to pay for return shipping (and most manufacturers would not give you an invoice I would assume, but I have never tried it.)

But I do have a question that I think you can easily answer: what is the employee discount at Gander Mt?

I've actually seen ammo there that was cheaper than other places. It was on sale.

Same thing with other merchandise. I usually walk past the regular-priced stuff and focus on the sales. Many times I walk out empty handed. But, once in a while I get a good deal.

It's kind of a strange store that way. I can always walk in to a FF, bait shop, or army-navy and find something I want or need. But, not Gander. I'm not bashing them, even though shopping there can be an exercise in frustration. I'll still go, just to see what's on sale.

In 2011, I wrote an email to the general manager (Brian) at their WB location. He called me back. I explained to him my frustrations with their lack of customer service and ammo policies. We pretty much ended our conversation with me saying, "I guess; I'll park in your parking lot and run across to Walmart, from now on".
I will turn in my firearms and not carry a gun for my own protection. When our Government Leaders stop hiding behind man's that carry guns to protect them.

So much for going back today (I got the last bulk 9mm)........ Hopefully some will be left.

Isn't posting "honey-holes" bad karma.

I don't think i'd call it bad karma. I'd just call it, letting fellow guntalkers know where some ammo is. Everyone is sick of the shortage and high prices. So if someone is looking for a decent price on ammo, and it's available somewhere, this way they know. Rather than drive all over the state looking for some and not finding it. I know if i was looking for a certain ammo, i'd appreciate it if someone posted it online so i knew where to go rather than drive all over and not find any. Or find it at the bang your consumer prices.
