AR Training/parts

Postby 870TC on Thu Mar 21, 2013 1:30 pm

Anybody know who the guys are that were at the MWCA show over the weekend that had a bunch of AR uppers on an end cap table and also had AR parts, also offered a signup for a AR armorers course? Were like 3-4 guys, think Tony Casper was one?. There tables were in the main arena, slightly South of the center of the arena.

I saw a BCG not too far from where you were ... when I asked who made it, the guy behind the table said "SOTA ... us!" ... I put it back down and walked away! :?

I think Element Arms has been hosting armorer classes.

Element has been, but I wasn't aware of them doing any of the shows?

The only people I know of who've got piles of parts is Blackthorne - and I'd run away from that faster than a hooker with an oozing...

Travis, I'm curious why you'd run away from a BCG from Sota?

It was Down Range Training Concepts.

I am also curious, since I have one of their bolts and CH's.

No big deal... I pay attention to other folks' issues with vendors/manufacturers... particularly ones I otherwise have no personal experience with!

... one complaint, and they've got my attention... two, and I'm purdy hesitant to give em my own business... three, and they'll likely never recover!

I can't say fer sure if it's two er three... but SOTA's definitely hit my radar!

YMMV!

...that, and it was $220+, IIRC!

Down Range looks right, one of the guys was named Paul. Not sure who's parts they sell or if they make there own?, and yes they had a BCG on the table for $225'ish. Maybe they are SOTA parts. Was just curious as to who they were, seen them at a few shows.
Definitely not Blackthorne/Vulcan/Hesse, they were on the outer ring.

Defensive Edge offers a number of armoring courses. Only problem is it's tough to find one in town as they're usually teaching all over the country.

They host quite a few around the cities, problem is that most are open to LE, Military only.

Sorry for my brain fart, I misplaced the info. Paul Braun is the owner/instructor of Down Range Training Concepts. He is putting on an AR Armorers Course on Saturday April 13th from 9am-6pm at the Metro Gun Club in Blaine. The cost is $250 (limited space available). His # is 612-483-2411.

The only problem I have heard about SOTA is that they are extreamly slow at shipping stuff out. I have and have sold some SOTA uppers and I say they are good stuff. I have no problems with them at all.

i'd be amazed if SOTA made their own BCGs. bolts, maybe. i've seen them selling the WMD NiB BCG with hammer (that's a lot of abbreviations) on their website.

It's definitely Down Range Training Concepts, I talked to them at the show at River Center back in January and bought a Yankee Hill compensator from Tony. He gave me a flyer for their AR armorers class.
