Stockpiling, legitimate concern?

So I've become a hoarder. I know I am far less of a hoarder than some, but I don't even want to go out and shoot. The current political climate has me concerned to the point that I'm buying things that I dont need (large capacity magazines, far too much ammo, starting to think about another AR). I've already purchase some BX-25's for a 10/22 that I dont even own yet.

I know that I'm just contributing to the problem, but I am legitimately concerned with what I am hearing. What are the chances that we're going to lose our ability to purchase "assault weapons" and high capacity magazines? Should I just sit back and wait and see what happens, or would it be wise to continue to stockpile? Prices are still far too high and it has me on the fence on whether or not to continue to stockpile in this marked-up market, or wait for the prices to come down.

Heck, some items are listed as back ordered until October 2013 !! Not very encouraging.

In my UNPROFESSIONAL opinion. Buy when you feel its cheap. You should be able to buy ammo cheap at some locations. I don't see anything wrong with buying more and stockpiling ammo when it's cheap or a price your comfortable paying. I bought 22LR the other day for .06 cents a round. 9mm for .32 and .223 ballistic tip for .60/round. So i didn't hesitate one bit to buy any. I thought that was more than reasonable for what's all going on. And for those prices i can afford to shoot more.

But when your watching places like CTD or Luckygunner and it's .95 or more a round for .223, then i wouldn't be buying it. You can find it locally for cheaper. But someone said that we have it pretty good here in MN, and that other states are having harder times than ever buying ammo and guns. So i'd buy locally. You will find it. Those online places are basing their prices off of the current supply and demand market. When it's available here, and cheap, we don't need to pay their prices, but because it's not available in other states, they resort to the online markets and that's why the cost is so high at some of those places. But not sure i would go out and buy things that you "don't need". I wouldn't run out and buy 20 PMags if you don't "need" them. All that does is contribute to the shortage and drive the prices up everywhere.

Due to the ridiculous prices, right now is just about the worst time to be hoarding. While we are definitely not out of the woods,the assault weapons ban and mag limits proposals are essentially dead at both the MN and federal level. If I was you, I would try to sell off the excess supplies while prices are still high.

Yep, now is the time to be selling, not buying.

Decide what is a reasonable stash/ reserve. Put that aside. Acquire as the market and your budget allows, and shoot what you got.
I feel fortunate that about 3/4 of what I possess I've had for the past 6 mos- year, but I have been buying recently as I stumble on acceptable prices.

All I can say is that I wondered if I would regret selling of my AR 15's and a bunch of new, in-wrapper PMAGs. I nailed the high-tide of the panic in early January, and I am quite happy with my decision.

I made a killing off of gunbroker and didn't "gouge" anyone, as I started low (99 cent) first-bid, no-reserve auctions and let the people pay what they would for my stuff.

YMMV, but, in the end, you don't need the stuff people are paying crazy prices for to be an effective rifleman.
