For those who are not aware this is the guy that was played by Greg Kinnear in the flick "We were young once, and Soldiers."

A true hero.

He had several hueys shot out from under him during the battle but he kept flying, the 1st Cav probably would have suffered the same fate as Custer without his efforts.

The actual characters were:

Greg Kinnear - Maj. Bruce "Snake" Crandall
Mark McCracken - Cpt. Ed "Too Tall" Freeman

An I think it was the 7th Cav, the same as Custer, not the first!
