Asking the police about a legal issue is like asking the technical service writer at the car dealership (the guy you tell what's wrong with your car before the mechanic looks at it) a technical question about your car. Not a good idea. Ask an attorney.

One time, already knowing the answer, I asked the service writer at the dealership what the oil change interval was for the supercharger on a new car I had bought when I had it in to the dealer for something. He told me with all the authority in the world that the supercharger shared the regular engine oil with the engine while running so there was no need (or way) to change the super charger oil separately. The supercharger was actually a closed system which was separate from the engine and thus had it's own oil.
