It was all gone with in an hour from what the store employee told me.

They said there was 20 to 30 people that all came in close to the same time and all the LR was gone 20 minutes later.

Seems there is a lot of truth about the lurckers on our forum grabbing intel on where the ammo is.

I was there at 6 pm that night and nothing available accept some Federal 209 primers and a lot of Remington .45 personal defence stuff.

I was there yesterday and there were about 100 boxes of 100ct 22lr on the shelf, 1 per customer.

No 223 or 9mm but they said they get it in nearly every day. You just have to go early and there is a 5 box limit.

I was too slow, although a family member called and gave me the heads up.

Why did you need more ammo? Thought you sold yours off at a hefty mark-up after "getting rid of your .22" per the thread below? Who you callin' vulture? ;)

Maybe after he sold his .22 and all the ammo last week, he decided to get back into .22 this week and bought a new gun.

Not true! I know first hand as I was there at 0900, 1200 and 1600. First trip alone then with my girlie friend then with my other girlie friend. I got my one box each visit tho. So did my girlie friends. There was quite a bit still there when I left. Might have been gone by time you were there, but they had it in two locations so maybe you missed it? Don't worry tho, I will NOT be posting when I see it NO more.

I walked into the BP Fleet Farm this afternoon when the guy with the hand cart full of ammo was stocking shelves.... there was an EMPTY case box of Winchester .223 ON HIS CART (never made it to the shelves) and about 4 cases of 7.62x39 WPA which evaporated (faster than the bottle of High West Son of Bourye whiskey I just destroyed) while he fielded calls from no less than 5 people who happened to call RIGHT when the ammo showed up.

The hoarders/resellers have it pegged, they know when stuff lands (thank you forum posters and predictable restock cycles/store insiders) and show up to buy significantly more than their "limit" (which is, by the way, a complete un-enforced joke) the minute it hits the loading dock. Same story at Wal-Mart, etc... On the plus side there were plenty of Bushmaster Carbon15's on the rack for less than $750 but nobody is buying them since they can't feed the damn things.

My favorite gun store on the north end here has had .223 on the shelf every day for the past month that I've been in there. They also have had .45 acp but not a stitch of .22 LR. Nor the elusive 9 mm. They don't have no more XDs's either ;)

I saw a guy walk out with 5 of the 100rd boxes of 45 yesterday. No issues (yea, I staked it out to see if he would get denied). At $46.99 per 100, who would want to stop him?

The Bushmaters got a BIG price increase. The Patrolman is now $1269 (was $1099), and the Carbon 15 went from $659 to $750. The prices havent changed with my distributors so I assume it's an increase on FF's end....

I'm sorry, but charging $1269 for a Bushmaster Patrolman is the reason they're still in stock. That's a joke....other local sellers have better rifles in stock brand new for under $1,000.00

Is the panic over?

Postby jshuberg on Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:17 pm

On 3 occasions I've been fortunate enough to order a 1000 round case of 9mm from an online retailer for under $.30/round. There were actually a couple different places yesterday that had 9mm for not-too-bad prices, at least for these days. I haven't seen any .223/5.56 for a reasonable price since everything went crazy, and haven't been looking for .22.

My gut tells me that pistol ammo should start becoming more and more available over the next 2-3 months. .308 and other rifle calibers in the next 5-6 months or so, and .223/5.56 in around 10-12 months. Presuming the legal/political outlook continues to go in our favor. It will probably be 1.5-2 years before everything returns to pre-panic availability and prices.

A word of advice, once things do get back to normal, it would be a very good idea to slowly squirrel away 6-12 months worth of your normal ammo usage. Having a couple hundred rounds on hand just isn't enough anymore if you want to be able to keep shooting through a panic. And I doubt this will be the last one.

Anyways, that's my $.02 for whatever it's worth.
