I saw some 22 CCI CB Shorts on armslist, he wanted 10$ apiece for them. I sent him an offer saying I'll give 10$ for both cause I see them in the store all the time, Caperas, wallmart... I get a message back that only says "Nice."

A simple no thanks I like gouging would have sufficed.

I catch myself getting upset at people who gouge as well at times. You just need to remind yourself that it is a sellers market and this is Capitalist nation. Buyers can take back control by simply stopping buying. When seller can charge 100x the value of something and people line up to buy it still. Who is really to blame, seller? or buyer?

... honestly $10 per 100 is not far off of the current market price at retail, I'd actually call it a surprisingly good price for Armslist right now given the usual markup.... Capras sold through a few thousand CB Shorts and Longs at $8-10 per sleeve (including tax) within the past couple of weeks.

I was just at Capras and they had them for $8, gotten them from wallyworld numerous times in the last couple weeks for 7.50$. The guy is still selling more then retail for CB's.

I'll have to pull the sleeve of 5 I purchased a week ago at Capras and double check the price but I'm 90% sure it was $9 a sleeve of 100 for CB shorts.. plus tax. Capras has been good about pricing but even their .22 stuff is going up day to day and still blowing out the door, I paid $17.99 for a box of AutoMatch and the next day paid $19.99 for 3 more boxes from the same lot when they had it in stock (the last shipment of .22 LR they have seen according to Todd)...

Regardless - I wouldn't call pricing $16 worth of ammo (plus tax) at $20 in the current market gouging, that's barely a worthwhile finders fee to cover the seller's time and gas. Likely they purchased it and realized it won't run their semi-auto .22 and are simply looking to get cash back out.

Ehh, who knows. I cant seem to find 22LR though anywhere, and the people that are on armslist want a fortune for what they have. I traded some .40S&W for a bunch of 22LR the other day and shot them through my new SR22 already. Now to find some more.

They make 8 shot 500's--it's called the "Cruiser".

In a response for my PTR MSG91 (a rifle that MSRPs at over $2100, and the cheapest it can be found is almost $1900--when it can be found).

"Why are you asking over $1000 more than those CETMEs out there? It's basically the same rifle..."

He then went on to offer me about 50% of my listed price.

I was not entirely polite in my response.

My thoughts........

1) People can ASK for whatever they want, it doesn't mean they will get it. I don't care if it's on craigslist, armslist or the homeless bum on the corner asking for a dollar, it doesn't matter. You can ASK all you want, but ASKING isn't GETTING. There's a big difference between the two.

I'd sell a box of .22LR 550 rounds for $250, cause that's what I'd ask. If someone wants to pay it, cool. If not, cool too. Do I think anyone would really pay that? No, of course not.... Am I really asking that price? No, of course not.....but if someone is willing to pay it and we agree, then why not? It's just business in a free market economy and in a Capitalist society. This lead me to point 2....

2) Every physical asset I have is always for sale for enough money, that's business. I can always replace "things". If someone wants something bad enough, they'll pay for it. If not, then not. That's all.

3) People can buy up anything and everything they have the money for if they want to. If someone else doesn't have the money and can't do the same, bummer for them. Money gives you options. I'm not going to drop 50k on ammo, but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to. Is it the best use of my monies? No, but it's an option. If that bothers you, make more money somehow and then you'll have that option too.

4) It doesn't matter what "it" is, if people can buy low and sell high, they will. I guarantee anyone on this forum doesn't want to pay a dime more than they have to for anything, but when they're selling it, they want to get the maximum dollar for it.

5) Supply and Demand. Artificial, Percieved, True, or otherwise, it doesn't matter. Enough said. It is what it is.

6) If someone doesn't like armslist (or any other business), then don't patronize it.

7) If you're reading armslist just to complain, whine, bi-h, or for entertainment, you need a new hobby... or maybe just go out to the range more.

Seriously, the whole "He's evil for over-charging" (as you perceive it to be) is old.

Desperation is expensive. Fear is expensive. If you are desperate and/or afraid, it's going to cost you more for something vs. if you can wait for it. When you have a lot of people afraid and they buy up ammo, it affects perception as well as supply and demand.

I can't believe that this and the other Economics 101 basics are foreign to people on here.
