Great way to spend an evening

Postby bensdad on Tue Apr 09, 2013 9:21 pm

Down in my gun room watching Archer reruns on Netflix (with my daughter's Kindle Fire) and making 9mm. Are you guys from the "no distractions while making ammo!" camp, or do you catch up on your soaps while running the press?

It is always better doing work while having a good laugh. That show is pretty good, check out Ugly Americans if you like Archer.

It would seem to me that visual distraction would if nothing else, slow down the process. I do enjoy listening to non-commercial radio, but that's it. The only visual distraction is when the dog gets jealous of all my attention going to reloading. That's it's own melodrama.

No TV but I usually crank up the iTunes, either music or maybe a Penn Jillette podcast.

I love Ugly Americans. Watching that on NetFlix is what led me to Archer. It does that, "because you watched..." thing. You're totally right though, Hoot. It slows me down significantly.

Maybe music and most times not even that.

When using my single stage presses, I can watch/listen to tv or radio/stereo large enuf to shake the building.
When using my Dillon 450 progressive, I listen to desk radio stereo only as I watch my powder dump for charge before seating a bullet.

Most of the time, nothing. Just enjoy the peace and quiet while playing my hobby, (with the 2 tumblers running in the background).

Murphy watches the door to let me know if I need to turn radio down when Mom comes home, or a visitor arrives, then I listen to "hound howls".

I can't do two things at once... I can barely walk and talk at the same time. Music while reloading here.

My wife says that until I can pass the Bubble Gum Test (walk and chew bubble gum at the same time) I am only allowed to do one thing at a time, either reload or watch TV... ;)

I usually listen to podcasts in my headphones while I run my single stage. I tend to pause it when I'm doing things with numbers though, I can't concentrate on listening and reading numbers at the same time. Listening to comedy podcasts, like My Brother, My Brother, and Me, sure helps time pass when I'm resizing a couple hundred cases.

I don't do anything video when I'm reloading, but don't mind some audio in the background. Most of the time, I'll burn through some of the podcasts I've gotten behind on. There is nothing in them that is what I would consider distracting. Works for me.
