ammo shopping at Wal-Mart

Postby phorvick on Sat Sep 06, 2008 7:43 pm

I stopped into the Fargo Wal-Mart on Friday evening to get some various caliber handgun rounds. It seems that WM is as decent as anyone on pricing, ...as the clerk was loading it into checkout bags etc., he simply says....looks like a fun weekend for you. No crappy comments, no odd looks.....just a friendly sales guy doing his job. I did not even have to wait for a clerk!
Where did I leave the Tardis?

It really seems that it depends on what store you're at as to the attitudes of the help. I have no problems in Apple Valley but the one time I bought ammo in Eden Prairie the checkout girl tried to argue with me that I didn't need the ammo I was buying unless I was going to go out and kill a bunch of people.

I wonder if that would raise any eyebrows?

I buy 9mm, 38 special,22 and sometimes 45. When I do make a purchase I stock up so like 4-5 100 count boxes of the larger calibers and 2-3 bricks of 1000 in 22. I just put it in the cart and check it out with the groceries and anything else I buy. I've never had them say a thing about it. They do ask it is for a pistol and I always say no just to see if they care, never had it questioned.

Had some zit faced tree hugger type twerp at Dicks give me and a buddy the weird evil eye when we bought three cases of 9mm each. "What are you guys starting world war 3?? :o "

To which my reply was simply "no, this is for the ride home"

I thought he was going to collapse right there.

It was kinda funny thinking about it now

Somebody on THR (I think) said Fed. 22 bulkpack was back down to 10 bucks. I couldn't go find out for myself today, as I was home sick. I'm gonna stop by tomorrow and see. This would be epic. I'm down to about 5,000 rds. of .22. Not cool.

In Rochester Wally World is the cheapest place in town - $10 less than Gander on 9 mm 100's - was better but you know how that works.

I buy my 9mm target ammo from WM, but I feel guilty every time I do it...
