Noveske gets the mall ninja votes, but the Schreyer is a notch above it in form/function.

"Mall ninja votes", I guess the thousands of rounds of flawless function from my multiple Noveske rifles is just a fluke. How can you speak about Noveske vs Schreyer, when the lowers have only been produced for a few months. How many rounds have you put through each? :blah:

Hmmm..Noveske/BCM/Daniel Defense/Colt VS. Broberg or Schreyer. I just can't decide where to gamble my money for a rifle component...

Yeh, the "mall ninja" comment was amusing.

A lower is a low stress part until you start using it like a club. How many doors have you smashed in with your multiple noveskes?

Even a plastic lower will run for a while before breaking. It's not that critical of part in the scheme of a functional rifle.

How many doors have you smashed with your month old Schreyer? You imply that no real world operators would ever be caught with a Noveske, gimme a break. I appreciate your loyalty to the local guy, and I I will probably add a Schreyer to my collection soon, but if you wanna imply that all Noveske owners shop at Abercrombie And Fitch, do some research first.

Johnny Noveske was a nobody not too many years ago as well. My SWS lower has already seen 2000 rounds (you'd be hard pressed to tell it looking at it though). How many of you have even shot 2000 rounds in the past 6 months?

A lower, unless used as a club (which WAS a design criteria), is not a stressed component in the AR platform. The plastic ones break at the extension threads because the material is too thin, not because they take all kinds of abuse.

The only way you could improve on the SWS is to forge it. Since I'm not smashing skulls daily, that's not a concern for me.

There are some significant differences in the two designs between the N4G2 and the SWS - the Noveske mag well isn't flared as much, and the trigger guard is actually slightly smaller than a GI trap door. At least the Magpul inserts drop the shelf a little and open up more space. The reason the trap door is hinged is to allow room for gloves - when you make it solid, and don't make it any bigger that LOSES function.

So while you're all getting pantie bunches over my comment about mall ninja's approving, you've actually made my point that you're not looking at it in the same light as someone who intends to use it. We live in MN - we had 6 months of winter. I wear gloves when I shoot outside in the cold. ;)

I shoot that in one carbine course. As to robustness, I shoot some real crap ammo (bomb squad surplus for destruction) and I'm confident that I've had to mortar that puppy more often than you've had to break doors or skulls.

Personally, I have no reason to doubt the quality of Schreyer or Boberg. Up here in the hinterlands, I've never heard of either one. OTOH, I have heard of Noveske and I respect their well-known reputation in the industry. Maybe, when Schreyer or Boberg have been at this as long as Noveske and have earned an equivalent reputation, that will be my next rifle.

I'm not a fan of bobergs. They didn't bring anything to the table which wasn't already better served by other options. As was mentioned, they also don't fit well with the uppers I've seen. The machining is quite lazy as well - the design was made for expedient production rather than any kind of aesthetic or functional improvement over the mil-spec forging.

Speaking of boberg's, why haven't we heard from the 80 tools to make them guy lately? :rotf:

Another shout-out for the guys at Atomic Tactical! Not only did they install the components I bought today (a Rainier Arms XTC compensator and a BAD ambi selector switch) for free, but they spent ALOT of time with me talking about my impending AR build. Bottom line, I've chosen a Mega forged upper and lower and a Noveske free float rail. Haven't chosen a barrel or components yet, but that shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for all the info, folks!
