So while I was out today, what do I see, but a Honda Civic. It was an older model, rusted, and driven by someone who looked like they didn't make a whole lot of money. Of course I immediately thought of this thread and in my mind, compared it to a Glock and a Glock owner......

1) Most gun owners must make some decent wages I would think because let's face it, guns, ammo, supplies, tools, memberships, it aren't cheap. Some gun owners probably live on a fixed income or choose to spend their money on guns and such vs. other things; but I'm thinking that's probably the exception vs. the rule. I think it'd be interesting to know the average income of the average gun owner. Anyway, the guy driving that Civic looked like he could barely afford McDonalds, let alone a Glock.

2) NO self-respecting gun owner (let alone a Glock owner) would EVER let their tools rust like that Civic did; nor would they ever be seen with such a rusted piece either. Of the two, I think the Glock is held to and made with higher standards than the Honda Civics are. I know, apples to oranges, cars to guns, but I'm still just saying.......

3) The one thing the Civic had in common with Glocks is it was loud since it didn't have a muffler (Thanks MN for outlawing Suppressors!!) Unlike the Glock's firing noise, the Civic's noise was much more annoying.

4) I did see the Civic, it was rusted the driver looked broke, and the above is written in humor. If you're offended, then all I have to ask is where were you driving to on 35E South today?

What does someone who doesn't make a "whole lot of money" look like? Tell tale signs? There is no meaningful "average income" of gun owners either. Firearm ownership transcends all classes. I'm guessing the answer would be very close to the average salary of all people whether they own firearms or not.

Yeah, it's hard to judge a book by it's cover, especially when it comes to income. It's also wrong to judge people based on looks, but let's face it, we all do it.... especially when we first see someone for the first time. (I have long hair and from behind, I get confused for a woman all the time...and it's not because of my ass. It's the long hair.) Meh. Whatever. I deal with it and have fun. It doesn't bother me at all.

We all hate stereotypes, but we all use them....and sometimes, sad to say, they are correct. If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, walks like a duck....... however, that can lead you down the wrong path.. for example, if you hear horses running, it may be zebras, but at first you'll think of an animal with hoofs as a start. It's a tough call and there's no way to be dead on accurate 100% of the time.

I guess my point was that most gun owners probably aren't working at Taco Bell making $8.50 an hour living in their mom's basement with their GED edumakation. Guns aren't a cheap hobby. It does cross all social-economic classes, true on that as well, but certain things like golf, hockey, racing, wine collecting, are usually done by people who have more income than not. Maybe I'm completely off on this one.

I for one couldn't give a crap how ugly and beat up my Glocks are so long as they keep working. When they stop working, being Glocks and not imitations, it can be fixed by reloading the gun:mrgreen:
