New gun range coming to Osseo!

There is a lot of ranges going in here in the NW metro, but it's good to have options.

NW metro....Bill's Robinsdale and the planned Osseo one. NE metro....Metro gun club in Blaine, Bill's in Circle pines, and Bills in Hudson. SW metro...Burnsville range. SE metro.....ummm, sorry can't think of one.

I heard it will be across 141st from Hardee's. I haven't seen anything first hand yet though.

NE metro - Forest Lake is adding a range

May 17th - The board unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Ben Oliver regarding plans for a new indoor shooting range adjacent to his gun store, Lakes Area Trading, on Eighth Street near Music Connection. Plans call for a 7,700-square-foot business offering 11 military-grade shooting stalls and space for retail and training. Features will include a ballistic protection system controlling the direction of bullets (up to 50-caliber rounds) and a large air-handling system that meets HEPA requirements. Projected noise levels meet local ordinances at 60 to 65 decibels, compared to a radio or TV set at moderate volume. Regular hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

This meeting is where the real fight is going to happen from the gun grabbers—we cannot let our guard down this is what they are hoping for !

If anyone was at last Monday's meeting of the Planning commission, you need to show up again this next Monday June 24th before the actual city council. Call or write the council members voicing your approval of this range. I already did and I'll be there Monday night. Bump. Just a reminder, the Osseo city council meeting is tonight (June 24, 2013) at 7PM. If you like the idea of having MORE choices for indoor ranges, then CALL and/or E-MAIL the council members to let them know how you feel. Also, if possible, show up at the meeting tonight and let your voice be heard. You can bet that the "antis" will be there whining about how it's too close to the school. I'll be the guy in a UPS shirt if you want to chat. Thank you!

Ok...NOW it's a done deal! The Osseo city council voted 3-2 FOR the new range. Groundbreaking will start in late July. Thanks to all that helped out by writing or calling the council members. The two "no" votes on the council didn't say one single word for the entire discussion which makes me think they had already made up their minds before they got into their cars to drive to the meeting.

I talked to Chris Williamson afterwards about the range and one thing came up that caught my attention....5 of the 20 firing lanes will be "high end deluxe" bays with "180 degree fire" capabilities. Cool!

I have no idea. My guess would be "yes" after it's up and running for a few weeks.
