Same here. Applies to employees only, though, not guests or visitors. Go figure.

My CEO joked he was changing the hostage / active shooter response policy to say "call MN01R6, then call police". I wish I was quick enough to say in my most operator voice "you probably should just have them call the coroner if I get to them first" but sadly I am not that smart.

Carry is not allowed at work. They claim it isn't allowed in the parking lot, and in fact the employee handbook has a special form you need to fill out if you want to leave a firearm in your car if you are planning to go hunting right after work. I told them the law regarding parking lots and I never heard any more about it.

No for in the office, and no for when we travel out of state.

I am also renowned for my inability to follow rules. I suspect this was why I no longer work in the Cube Farms and have an office with a door.

Yes, getting caught would be hazardous to my employment. However, given that my coworkers and I rate slightly above abortion doctor and slightly below lawyer scum (including websites with our photos and some people's home addresses), I consider it a risk worth taking for my own protection.

Policy at my former work was no guns or weapons of any sort. So I was surprised when one of the gift selections for a 25 year service anniversary was a Leatherman. So of course it was my choice. Shortly after getting it I wore to work.Next thing I know my boss tells me to take it to my car, " no weapons allowed". I looked up from my desk and said Lets go thru everyone's desk and remove all scissors and paring knives used for slicing apples first. He never said a word . Guess he didn't want the wrath of all the office ladies. I wore every day after until I retired 4 years ago.

Instant termination of employment at my workplace. The parking lot exemption was mentioned but I wouldn't want to press the issue against them. Being a test case can get expensive- even if you win.

Carry is allowed except for one room at my office. Almost all senior management carries. Still a very quiet topic.

Employees not allowed at the dealership, but guests and customers apparently can. Its the car business, they turn away someone open carrying, they could lose a new car or truck sale. Several improvised weapons at my disposal hidden in plain sight at my desk, as well as a tire iron and garage spring tensioner bar. fellow countermen know where to find them as well as how to make distractions happen.

I manage and bartend at a fine dining restaurant. Six months ago my boss told me, while respecting my interest in firearms, that he would rather I keep my hobby to myself. This spring I took him to my range for a serious session of AR, AK, 1911 and 9mm shooting. Things have now come full circle, last month I told him that I bring my carry gun into the building at closing time whenever I have to lock up. This week he inquired about getting his PTC and when our new overnight cleaning crew manager told us that the crew we fired was known for taking revenge on the new contractors he told her, " we have armed staff members that would not allow harm to come to them". My boss had been robbed twice at gunpoint in his native city of Detroit, and the reality of that is starting to outweigh his idea of "PC".
My boss is cool!

" we have armed staff members that would not allow harm to come to them".

You/ they have something it writing about that? Not that it would likely matter in the event of deadly force use issue.

If one thinks about it- that's a pretty strong (and preposterous) statement; in effect guaranteeing some employees' safety seemingly because some other employee has a carry permit.

(Not trying to derail an interesting thread, but the quoted remark really jumps off the screen as ignorant and irresponsible)
