What do you do?

Postby Deputyhiro on Mon Sep 02, 2013 9:20 am

When your daughter asks you for a purple gun?..... You build her a bad ass purple gun. :D I picked up an AK22 trainer kit the other day. Good shooter, fun project. First time using duracoat too. Turned out good.

It is better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it.

Looks badass in a girly sort of way, and is a WAAAYYYY better color than Hello Kitty Pink.

I know. I would draw the line at pink. Luckily that color wasnt mentioned. I struggled with this one. I have built quite a few different parts kits, and I always try to keep it "natural". Matte black gunkote. I found this .22 trainer kit, and I thought it would be a great starter gun for her. I asked her if she wanted daddy to build her a gun.... Her response was, "can it be purple?"..... "Sure honey" ... Im thinking. After I finished, I kind of like it.. Only thing Ive been told was that it needs a Viking horn in the stock. I cant basterdize it that bad. Maybe when she grows up, I can atleast blast it and gunkote it

Rustoleum's held up better than the duracote I had done. $60 vs $5.

I've used the Rustoleum high heat (BBQ paint) on many things with good luck. There isn't a wide variety of colors however.

The stock turned out badass. It came weathered and soaked in cosmoline, and I wondered what it was going to turn out like. After hours of sanding / degreasing it turned out great. Wish I could get a better picture, but the damn glare ruins it :D

Krylon is where it's at! Rustoleum only works good when it actually decides to cure - Thought I haven't actually tried the real stuff, just the spray cans...

Looks great to me - You're daughter is a lucky girl.
