I sold 3 boxes of .22LR Federal Red Box Bulk Pack (525 Rounds) the other day for $120 to a friend. KI paid $21.99 each and was going to sell them for that since it is a close friend, and they said they'd pay double.

I think the naval yard incident just exacerbated the "panic".
There will now begin another round of gnashing teeth and beating chests to ban evil guns.
It hasn't begun to solve the homicide problems in Chicago, Flint, Detroit, New York, DC....ect
but it doesn't stop the progressives....

Is the panic over?

Postby jshuberg on Thu Sep 19, 2013 5:58 pm

I seriously doubt it. The anti-gun cultists couldn't possibly have had a better tragedy to exploit for political purposes as the Sandy Hook tragedy. Look at what happened, the majority of states and the federal government were completely impotent to further the gun ban agenda as the people stood up against them. The backlash in those states where gun bans were enacted was significant, and in the case of Colorado some were thrown out of office because of it.

Some people may start hoarding as the result of the Navy yard shooting, but I believe they will be a very small minority. There may be a slight effect on supply, since supply still hasn't fully recovered from the last one, but I don't think it will be very significant.

The hardcore anti-gun cultists will exploit this to try and start another anti-gun wave, but it won't go anywhere. Most politicians are entirely self-serving, and aren't willing to go out on a limb for another attempt at gun bans, given how they were so thoroughly defeated in the last attempt.

The Navy yard shooting wasn't due to a failure of gun control, it was an absolute and complete failure of our government to do their damn jobs.

Ok, the panic is starting to hit me. I purchased surplus factory ammo back in 1996-2004, and purchased reloading components in 1994 after the first primer shortage, and again in late 2008 after election told me of impending doom. I have sold ammo and primers to point that I am now no longer able to sell anymore due to this panic lasting longer than I ever thought it would. My stock of 50 thousand primers is now about 15 thousand of various types total. My factory ammo supplies of over 30 thousand rounds are nil, but my re-manufactured ammo supply is growing daily. I have been reconsidering getting my Class 06 license again.

I'm on vacation in Branson MO. I stopped by the Wal-Mart and there were sold out of 9mm. The lady behind the counter told me she would get 25 boxes today. I went there at 7am and there was a line already. I was lucky enoght to get some.

I was at Streichers for their tent sale several weeks ago. They had cases of AR 30 Round PMags for sale for $11.99 each, no limit. I haven't been ammo shopping since the Navy yard shooting, but prior to that I could find ammo in the stores and on the shelves just about anywhere. The only real exception to that is the .22LR ammo. That still hasn't recovered. It may take a couple trips to the store, but its not like it was last winter/spring following Newtown.

Still no steady handgun ammo at my fleet stores. Plenty of handguns ar15 rifles and hunting ammo.

I was at BP Fleetfarm this morning to see their empty shelves as was another and he was looking for "what everyone is looking for" as he put it. I alerted him to my find at Wally World Riverdale and he ran out the store hopped in his truck and peeled out!

The Service Rifle team put in a bullet order with Nosler earlier this month. We we told not to expect anything until sometime next spring, but I got an email last night from my teammate saying the 77's were on his doorstep when he got home.

The order we placed last year about this time didn't arrive until late February.
I will never apologize for being an American.
