Most gun shows are over priced.

This is very true. The sad part is there are so many people that are uninformed and think that because it is a gun show it has to be a good price. I bumped into my old neighbor and watched him prove the theory on one purchase.

I think I finally broke my fascination with gun shows and did not attend the one in Hutch. 8-)

In the past for some reason I would go to all of them and walk out wondering why I wasted my time going. For the most part (at least in the metro) its the same guys with the same overpriced stuff. I guess I got tired of looking at their prices, then looking at them while giving them the "look" which is a combination of   . No words were ever spoken.

FF in BP had a ton of .223 this weekend on the shelves. 100 packs for $46 lined the shelves and I also spotted a could 1K round boxes for $460 still sitting there when I was in, and there was only 2 people in the area browsing.

Lately I've noticed... Popular hand gun ammo is sparse at best. 22 LR only lasts on the shelf a few hours. A few calibers not seen in some time have shown up. Gunbroker ammo sales seem lower.

Recently I've heard... A City of Anoka LEO I know visited his buddy at Federal... The warehouse there is jam packed and they've cut back shifts? A Fed Ex driver I know tells me they don't have enough drivers to pick up at Federal and pallet loads are being delivered to residential addresses.

Federal is backlogged 2-3 years for all the popular calibers.

Federal has doubled, and tripled their production of certain popular calibers. They even setup a new warehouse facility up the street from production since they needed the space. 3 shifts, plus swing shift weekends....they're busy as all get out right now just trying to fill orders for the retailers. As FJ pointed out, they have enough orders for certain rounds to last well into 2016....as opposed to 6-9 month backlogs before the latest "crisis".

Federal is also getting increased amounts of 5.56 and 7.62 from Lake City excess production.

Still no .22? .22LR requires a disproportionate amount of labor to its profit margin....that's why none of the major manufacturers are building extra capacity for making .22's.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Sounds like the telephone game from kindergarten.

And ammo doesn't go out Fedex.

I've got some oceanside property in MN for sale, interested?

So why don't the Chinese get into the ammo business, their workers make a fraction of those working at Federal...they're making everything else from toys to washing machines.

There's an executive order in place banning importation of arms and munitions from China's largest manufacturer, Norinco... it would likely be high risk to put forth the infrastructure investment to wind up a .22 LR ammo production outfit only to have a current/future US administration expand the importation ban, killing their only significant export market.
