The public would be well served if we of the shooting community were to take the simple step of providing marksmanship training for gang members. Many innocent lives could be saved.
One merely has to glance at the newspapers or television to see that innocent bystanders, even children, are periodically shot in what so often turns out to be gang-related shootings. Two children have been killed in just the past few years, along with others, apparently solely because their killers could not grasp the most fundamental principle of hitting what they were aiming at. Think how much good could be done, and how much grief could be avoided, if only the shooters were accurate.
I call upon all right-thinking shooters in Minnesota to open their hearts and take local thugs to our ranges, where they can practice shooting at paper targets that realistically represent members of opposing gangs. Just think: In as a little as one day, and with the expenditure of just a moderate amount of ammunition, a wild-shooting young gangsta could be turned into a credit to his community.
(I posted this same thing on the other Minnesota gunnie forum.)
