Sell or not to sell?

Sell them. You don't really know how well you will like any gun until you've had it for awhile, and you aren't going to love all of them. Keep the ones you really like and sell the others to buy more that you really like. I've only ever bought one back after selling it, and I ended up selling it again later. I only have a couple that I wouldn't sell, and mainly because I use them too much. I'd sell those too, if the price was right. I don't know why some folks get so emotionally invested, they aren't children, and they are making plenty more.

Not necessarily if it's a Winchester or older Colt, etc. Sell those and you may never find a replacement.....at least at a price you like.

^^^^This. I consider myself fortunate that I found a Winchester Model 100 at a smoking price to replace the one I traded on a Model 88. I still don't regret trading the first 100 for the 88, but now I have the best of both worlds.

old Mossberg 500 sold ... cant replace it for what I sold for ... kick kick kick .... nice old weather beater shot gun .......... basically don't sell unless you hate it .... I have a glock 19 in my safe ... maybe will never shoot it again .... don't like it don't exactly hate it but why shoot it when I have SIG to shoot ? maybe will sell the glock

I am thinking of doing the same I currently have 11 handguns and I like them all for different reasons. There are a few I do not shoot much. Should I sell them to fund a new project or just keep saving til I can buy it?

Why would you base your decision on what others are doing or not doing? If you want to sell one then just do it, only then will you find out if you regret it or not. Your decision should not be based on the fact that some "guy" on the internet sold a gun and had no regrets or had regrets.

First I don't buy them unless I have a strong interest in them, so in turn I don't sell them. In my youth 35 years ago I sold a Marlin 22 lever action and a Ruger Mark II. I was in college and needed cash, I think I got $100 each. Looking back it was dumb, I would pay double to have both back. The Mark II I recently replaced with a new Mark III. I have never found the model of Marlin I had that was in good enough condition to purchase.

My Marlin 39M is probably the last gun I would ever sell. It was a Christmas gift at about age 9. Not my first gun, but it was just like dad's 39A and my first really nice rifle. I've been lightly browsing to see if I could find one just like it for my son, but they don't come cheep.

I sold 3 in the early 70's, none since. I have enough guns so that some don't get much use, but I don't plan to sell them just because of that. Sooner or later they'll get aired out.

If I owned any guns, I would not sell any of them. If I wanted something new, I would buy it, and stack it up next to last weeks "gotta have". It wouldnt bother me if certain guns didnt get shot for years. I am sort of a packrat. Thats how I roll. If I owned any guns.....

Seriously, I sell guns all of the time. I don't have enough money or storage for all of them. If one of them falls out of favor, wasn't what I expected, is eclipsed by something else, or I upgrade, off it goes.
I regret one pistol that I gave up, everything else is fine.

Its whatever floats your boat. If you sell them you can try more for the same $$$, but you really can't compare them head to head.

Nothing wrong with selling in my opinion. Unless they have some sentimental value (ie... ones given to me by Dad for example) and you can upgrade your collection, I see it as only a benefit to your happiness. And really, isn't happiness what we all want?

Just before moving to MN in Nov. 2002, I sold my last Class 3 Rifles. A Russian made AK-47 With Select Fire (Full Auto) and a HK-91 also Select Fire. I never thought I would start hand loading, nor that I would be able to get out and shoot as much as I do now.

Dumbest mistake I EVER made, when it comes to buying and selling guns. It would cost me more than 10 times more, to purchase either gun again. On top of that, it would take forever to get the tax stamp processed again. It is my BIGGEST moment!

Not that I dont agree.... But Shhhhhhhhh........ It could be worse. We could be in CA. But Im sure that will come soon enough.
