Are you sure? It does not look threaded, you couldn't screw anything onto the barrel using the "threads" in the picture. It just looks like there are grooves cut into it for no real reason. I'm thinking some genius in the Remington marketing department just photoshopped in what he thought would look cool.

Could be a screwed on thread protector....?
Although you'd think the threads would be a smaller diameter than the thread protector which doesn't seem to be the case...
