Looks interesting. Here is a more detailed write up on the gun. With the slide froward it looks like Buck Rogers ray gun.

Wish the new Glock 380 was actually a pocket 380 with a 2.5" barrel.

Pocket .380 would be cool but I'm hoping this is a precursor to a single stack 9. I'm no engineer but would it be that much harder to make the grip a tad longer for 9mm?

You're probably right. Ruger has the LC9 which is a nice size 9 but the LC380 is fairly useless.

That's wierd. I'm the complete opposite. Loved Remington back in the day. I feel like they've gone to cheaper and cheaper designs over the last two decades, trying to grab more market-share at the low end. The Express was the cheapest way to make an 870. The 710 was the cheapest way to make somehting vaguely similar to the 700. The 597 was the cheapest way to make something that might shoot .22 if it was in the mood and the stars were alligned. Throw in the fact that their name is on the most unreliable .22 ammo in industry history, and they just about define "cheap" in the modern era.

Now they come out with, for all intents and purposes, a direct blowback 9mm handgun. This is something that Hi-Point can do for about $160, and Rem has the nerve to charge over twice that? They act like using a century-old design is some kind of wonderful, nostalgic thing. If it was so great, everybody would be doing it. There's a reason I don't have iron wheels on my tractors.

Hum, so about 3/4" longer and 2 oz more weight. Gotta say didn't see that coming when everyone was expecting an XDS .40. Who knows maybe there will be both.

From what I have read, they will make the 9mm first, and then a .45 version. No mention of a .40.

Very cool and not just another piece of copy cat plastic.

Just in time for the new USPSA revolver rules, too. Funny how that worked out. Too bad my 627's already set up for .38 short colt. Don't know what to do here. I'm not so sure I like the 6" barrel, though. I think I would prefer another 5" barrel like my 625 and 627 but who knows.
Yeah, but I shoot with THIS hand.

Actually, if you took the time to actually read the article, you would have learned it is NOT a direct-blowback design (like a high point).

And if you want to disparage century old designs, there's a whole lot of 1911 makers waiting to prove you wrong.

As for 870s, 770s, and 597s--couldn't care less. I'm a Mossberg, Savage, and 10/22 guy.

Probably to capitolize on the velocity/ accuracy of a long barrel and the concealability of a short grip. People have been chopping the grips on Glock 19s to 26 lengths for a while, and theres also the CCO type 1911s with a commander slide on an officer (or chopped commander) frame.

Makes good sense to me, I dont mind a long barrel (for non-appendix IWB), the grip is the issue.

S&W has a few new ones on the way. Multiple new revolvers and an M&P bodyguard.
