And this excuses your friend violating the law how? "Ex-wife and Ex-property" sounds to me like he went somewhere he knew he didn't belong, and took something he had no legal right to, rather than be bothered with handling the issue through legal channels, or just cutting his losses. Even without any details, it now sounds like your friend stepped on his own dick, got caught, but wants a pass.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever known anyone who got divorced?

Yes. A few people, myself included. And I know things get messy and ugly. I also know that how assets and property are divided ends up not seeming fair or just to one side or the other. But stuff can be replaced.

Never said what he did was right or excusable. It was a mess and things got ugly. FYI, she also made some pleas of her own and is also a felon.

He just wants to put it all behind him and get on with his life. Just thought maybe some of you guys here would know what he can or can't do as far a ML hunting . Shame on me for asking, I should have known better. Carry on.

Not shame on you for asking, but, respectfully, the question was asked and answered.

The best advice was to consult an attorney. Regardless of any opinions you'd get her or elsewhere, the interwebs are only as smart as the lowest life form that can type and spell incorrectly.

It truly is a legal question, and no opinion provided here or anywhere else on the interweb is going to carry diddly-doo for weight as a question of defense if the law starts asking.

True indeed, but often times on a forum like this those that wish to help answer a question, will not only voice an Opinion they will link and quote Legal Statutes and case Law. So, you are correct, opinions have no place, but the helpful will go above and beyond just their Opinion.

Agreed, not shame on you for asking. For the record, I'm susceptible to guilt trips, unless it's from one of my kids. If what I (or others who responded) said in critique of you're friend's "dilemma" offended you, may I just say that opinions are like A-holes, everyone has one, and they all stink.
