He bought Koscielski's gun shop when the old owner retired. I haven't heard much since then.

Not a good sign. Koscielski was engaged in a long running legal battle with the city of Minneapolis over the fact that they had passed ordinances so that you could not legally sell guns in Minneapolis, and he had spent a lot of his pension running this up to the appeals court for this judicial district to try and break their back. While he could legally sell a gun as an FFL, he couldn't do it in Minneapolis, so if you bought a gun from him, it had to be shipped to an FFL outside of the city. Not much inventory for obvious reasons, 2 or 3 big parrots that **** all over the place, and an assortment of mags and leftovers. I'd find out EXACTLY whether he can sell guns directly from Minneapolis, or whether the old system is in place. Last time I was in there it was pretty much a dump.

I bought a Glock from the owner right before he was going to retire. It was like buying from any other gun shop. Didn't have to do anything with an FFL outside Mpls. O'Neil same guy as on the biggest loser was there the day I bought my Glock, and he said he was going to close the place down for a while to remodel. It really needed it. But that was a couple years ago. I haven't been back since to see if anything has been done but O'Neil seemed like a real good guy. At the time I bought I thought they had very competitive prices.

My very first FFL transfer was with Koscielski. He was a stand up guy for sure. I've only visited the shop once since O'Neil took over and everything was completely adequate, the shop seemed to lose a bit of personality. I didn't feel as comfortable shooting the s**t as I did before. Granted this was a few years ago yet. I can't speak to the state of the shop now.
