Don't Do This At Home!

This is what happens when you leave a cleaning rod in your .338 Lapua and shoot it...

Speed is Fine, Accuracy is final....but accurate hits at extremely high speed is final much faster.

I'll bet he blames the ammo manufacturer.

Actually, the gal in Detroit just did fine with a HiPoint....and despite the obvious lack of use (rusty as hell), it still went BANG.

Now her aim on the other hand...

 I wasn't going for that angle, but you're right.

I don't think you'd blow a shotgun with a cleaning rod (bore snake could get ugly) is what I was saying. Not that I'd suggest trying it either. :?

Ah, I got cha. Might depend if she were throwing bird shot or a slug down the bore though.

Don't care how many years this guy has been shooting. Total dumbass, which goes to prove that stating that you have been shooting/reloading for X years is a totally bogus excuse for assuming it could never happen to you.

If you are having stuck cases in a gun like that, that's a major danger sign right there, and you need to pack up, go home, and figure out WTF is wrong. But nooooooo... let's just keep shooting loads where the case is sticking, which is normally a sign of high pressure that is borderline critical, and knock out the cases round after round with a cleaning rod. The only justice here is that this dumbass blew up a pretty pricey rifle, so he's out four figures for being a moron and nobody else got hurt.

I have 1 year of reloading experience 40 years in a row. That's how I think about it.

From the thread on snipershide.

Jesus. Surprised noone got hurt. Yall are lucky. I imagine that newly acquired flinch is gonna be hard to get rid of for quite a while.

FTW!

The fact that he was getting stuck cases and firing them anyways tells me more than enough about the goombaw behind the trigger.

The shooter only sustained minor injuries
from the actual detonation of his rifle. However, he is currently recovering in the ICU at the local trauma center after every other shooter on the range beat the living bejeezus out of him for being a complete F$%#ing moron and endangering all of their lives.

I had a guy split a barrel on a BFR on the lane next to me at Armored Fire back in the day. It took every ounce of mental strength I had not to beat him unmercifully with what was left of that poor revolver.
