Dakota co. Gun club

What are my chances of joining this gun club?
I have been trying for couple of years now, and I don't even have an idea how long the waiting list is.

Allegedly, membership will open this summer. No idea how long the wait is but is really like to join and contribute to this club.

The last I heard, there was a waiting list to get on the waiting list.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Dakota co. Gun club

Every year I contemplate just letting my membership lapse as I really never shoot there anymore. I always end up renewing though as it would take about 5 years if I ever decided I wanted to get back in...

I'm a member and it was discussed that the wait list was going to reopen this summer. Many people aren't renewing, and they're talking about allowing more members in. I think it was somethign that had to be discussed with the land owner (U of M). I'd toss in an application and see what happens :) Its a great club.

Too bad you can't transfer.

I plan on joining a couple of friends who are members when they do their service hours. Maybe if I attend enough as guest, get to know some regulars, and show I'm willing to put extra time in to keep the grounds nice I can get on the list. Maybe.

Would be great to be able to drive five minutes to a range.

It may be time to set a reminder! Will it open up at 12:01 AM on June 1st?

Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

The waiting list is slated to be re-opened in summer this year.

Once you get your name on that list, though, plan on another three to five year wait for the membership invitation to arrive. Movement on the waiting list is dependent on non-renewals, and from what I've been told, there aren't a lot of members letting their memberships lapse.

The club's facilities are grossly underutilized. There were times I'd get to the range on a beautiful late summer afternoon, and be the only person shooting there till sunset.

Members have until May the meeting to renew and then a count is put together as to how many are sent new membership paperwork and thus the list moves up. Typically your best chance to get on the list is submit a request sometime between May and June. Currently the waiting list cycles through in about 3 years give or take.

What is the deal with the long waiting lists at some of these clubs? The few times I have been to OGC and the Hudson club as a guest I have found that some ranges were completely empty. And these underutilized facilities have waiting lists? Maybe Groucho Marx was right when he said that he wouldn't join a club that would have him as a member.

It gives the appearance that these places are run by the "good old boys" and they are granting the privilege of being on their waiting list. You won't find me on any of them.

It's just supply and demand. Part of the beauty of private clubs is that membership is limited and you don't have to deal with every yokel that decides they want to shoot that day. I am very happy that the clubs I have memberships at have limited membership numbers.
