Stupid or interesting....

Postby phorvick on Fri Oct 31, 2008 4:44 am

One of the shots I like to try from time to time at the range is to set up two balloons about 6 feet apart, move back about 20 feet, and shoot two handguns simultaneously to break them both. Normally I will hold the two handguns about 3"-4" apart and pull both triggers at the same time. I must admit that success and I are not always close friends on this, but it is fun to try.

So, last night I decided to try again. Took a few shots (actually had some success) and decided to do one more. That is when I discovered that, although the spent casing does not seem to have much energy as it exits the gun, if it is "just right".....well....that is different.

I pulled the triggers....thought nothing of it....until the blood was obvious on my right thumb. The casing from the left hand gun hit my right thumb "just right" and took a small, but bloody bite. I thought that was interesting. Not sure if it is in the "stupid" or simply "interesting" category.

Reminds me of the scene in either movie, Silverado when Kevin Costner does it, or Boondock Saints when they give the long-haired guy a chance to do the dirty work. But those guys are shooting almost completely in opposite directions, one gun straight left, one gun straight right. I have no idea how you'd hit anything. phorvick's version would be difficult enough.

My 2 irrelevant cents ;)

Ah yes I suppose those CCI shot shells would do the trick. I've never put one through any of my pistols, was afraid I'd damage the rifling, either traditional or polyganol. Though I'd think polyganol would be better suited for it. Any truth to that?

Why limit yourself? Can't it be both? ;)

This had better be done in slow motion, and after jumping through a storefront window......
