If anyone can tell me how to get tax figures from the states who do allow this, I will do the leg work and make up charts to send to the dumb asses in our capital. Time we start pushing this.

Damn!! That is pretty sickening. Minnesota is in the same small group as the People's Republicks of Kalifornia, Illinois, and Noo Yawk. Dunno what our chances are of getting a Republican House this fall...

It's getting to be about time, but I see no reason to start prior to the upcoming election but further setting the groundwork needs to happen. Who's the main group here for supresssors?

If we really want to get supressor legislation done, GOCRA probably needs to be leading the charge. The have legislative relationships that need to be used.

Unfortunately, Stand Your Ground has been the primary focus (not that it's a bad thing to pursue), and it would seem supressors are not high on the leaderships priority list. The reality is, this is likely going to take a couple years to accomplish, and IMO, we need to start laying the groundwork sooner than later. We simply cannot wait for GOP power in all three branches. We will need DFL support.

It usually comes as quite a surprise to most people, even some shooting enthusiasts, to see the map that puts MN in that unique minority. Getting that word out would help. I also firmly believe that there those who seek to control shooting (when and where) through the noise issue. Those bleeps won't support suppressors

GOCRA is the group you want to work with -- admin@gocra.org.

This is on the priority list, however - with the current anti-gun DFL leadership in the MN House and Senate, this is going to be DOA. The chairs for Public Safety (House) and Judiciary (Senate) would never allow a silencer bill a hearing. We're going to need to flip control in the MN House in November as a starting point.

Suppressor legalization is a priority for GOCRA -- and for me. I have significant hearing loss in my right ear (not from shooting) and IT SUCKS.

There is no earthly reason that we should be forced to sacrifice our hearing to protect ourselves and our families.

Imagine this: you've had to shoot an armed assailant, and find out that the price was permanent damage.

I think the only other residual effect of that event has been my hearing. I have significant hearing loss in my left ear, along with tinnitus. It can be so frustrating.

I’ll never experience the calming and soothing effects of silence again.

There is a constant ringing in my left ear. Constant, as in never stops. It doesn’t get louder or softer or change pitches. It’s that same high-pitched ringing every waking second. It’s kind of like the sound of the dentist’s drill, that high-speed whining.

In our surveys of Minnesota candidates for office (currently being filled out), we're asking about suppressors. We'll let you know what the baseline is, then we'll know who to work on -- on both sides of the aisle.

It is time to stop legislating based on bad spy movies.

A big thanks to GOCRA and MNGOPAC leadership for following up on this thread. Proof positive that we are being listened too!

That said, even though currently it would be DOA, that is not a compelling reason to deny nudging on this issue. Many most legislative items take more than one session to accomplish. Like a seed in the ground, they take time, patience, and the right conditions to flower. Some seeds take many years to reach the surface, all the while they are establishing a root system, that will create the conditions required to sprout and succeed.

This is the approach we must remember. This will not happen overnight. But if we plan and coordinate, start talking to the right people, and get our root structure in place, we have a real possibility.
