Oh Tootsie!! Could we have a sock puppet check on Line 1?? Unfortunately, while I celebrated my 50th year of writing code back in April, this is the only sock puppet account I can manage:

I don't shoot reloads from people I don't trust with my life, so that is one real short list. Buying ammo in zip lock bags from a guy out of his basement is kinda like going to the local drug dealer for to fill you prescriptions. While it might work out, chances are it is going to turn out bad at some point. I want to be polite but other than being cheap why would you just not buy factory ammo from a reputable manufacturer? And if you are just cheap do you really value your life and limbs that little?

Sorry Sam the only puppet is your hand in your pants pocket. The OP asked if anyone knew Ron, I meet him a couple times and sold him some components. I did not run a background check on him or Interrogate him.

I'm training a nice young lady with a GSD named Klaus at Bethesda Hospital where all the really effed up people go to try and get rehabbed. You wanna PM me with your real name in case you wind up there??

I've loaded 231 in 9mm, 40, and 45. It's my powder of choice. It's a little dirty, but the SD and ES of my rounds has always been good. I've never had issues with metering. I've probably loaded somewhere in the neighborhood of 75-100k with 231. It's probably possible to double charge .45 with it, but your powder cop die would definitely lock up (provided you are using a powder cop die)... other than volume what's your beef with 231?

I'll own up.......I have bought and shot a few thousand 9mm rounds from him. At the height of the ammo scare (maybe still there) he had it when nobody else did. He had a smoking deal at the time. I can't think of maybe 2-4 rounds that stove piped, however I've had that happen with factory ammo at least as many times. He loads them light and they have worked perfect for competition shooting due to the light recoil. The last batch I got were a little hotter, about on par with factory stuff. A group of us went together and purchased several thousand rounds, no problems through a variety of pistols. I would not hesitate to pick up some more from him if/when I'm in need.

Thanks cs & az, that's all I was looking for was some folks that have used his stuff and how it worked out, I figured that since the guy who bought my ruger 45 has shot the ammo and he never called back to complain.

I understand the other concerns listed earlier in the thread, will ask when I talk to him friday and see what the deal is and get his "recipe" on the .45

Now to get out and do the yard work I was to do yesterday......yay.

A forgotten item. The light loads did not want to cycle an EMP fully to pick up the next round. They would eject fine but not grab the second round. Otherwise they worked fine in a variety of XD, Glock, M&P, and CZ 9mm pistols.

The puppet in my pants pocket is so old it has Alzheimer's and can't remember what it's for! It just seemed a little too convenient for some very low post count account to suddenly come out of nowhere with a shining recommendation of the product in question. And Oldman provides the REAL damning information that the seller would have to move $1200 of product a week to pay for the liability insurance, so it's a guy in his basement making up ammo and selling it in baggies with no insurance whatsoever. End of story.

Well the facts are.

Yes I have a low post count

No I'm not Ron

I live at the very south end of Bloomington and Ron lives in the 84th and 12 Ave area.

I did meet Ron several times and had conversations with him and he gave the impression of someone who knew what they were doing.

I wonder if this guy from the midnight ammo company is appreciating all the free pub he's getting for his apparently illicit operation

Now be fair as none of us know what he has or does not have, I will talk to him friday and see what the deal is, I can understand what you guys are saying but lets find out before we lynch the guy internet style.

I am not for supporting a illegal operation but aside from doing business at his kitchen table and baggies as transport vessels ( I brought my own box when I went a few months ago ) I am hoping he is legit as even freedom-ammuntion or any of the others cannot come close, freedom wants $163+ ( in ohio ? ) for 250rds of JHP like ron's and from him it will be $80 so I am willing to talk to the man and get the scoop.

I going to make a wildass guess and suggest the city of Bloomington won't issue a license to manufacture ammunition in an area zoned residental. I'm pretty sure without the correct biz licence the ATF wont approve a FFL. Without either of those certifications there won't be any biz/ prod liability insurance. But again, those are my speculations.
