My 10.5 inch barreled 308 would get the suppressor.

A 10.5" .308 has the same muzzle energy as a 300BLK only uses twice as much powder.

True but 300BO energy at 300 yrds is around 700 whereas 308 is around 1580 with 150 grain bullet, give or take.

Declawed is a must. Don't want him tearing up your furniture. ;)

I heard Bloomberg wants to ban lions used by civilians for home defense. I don't think they should ban them... Unless they have 3 or more "evil features". Claws and teeth make them look more scary.

I'm ok with the military and police using them though.

My main concern with using a SBR for home defense would be over-penetration, even if subsonic.

An SBR has lower velocity, of course. Shooting .223 out of an SBR likely has less penetration than a .40 cal handgun.

Wow! You must have an incredible home! Longest open distance in my home is 20 or 30 feet.

Yeah, I'll just use my 460 and hope that all the bad guys line up in a line. Plus when the first round goes off it'll be like the movies with a flash bang followed by those seemingly slow motion scenes where you can't really hear anything except the faint ringing and then maybe 3 or 4 hours later I'll start to be able to hear the questions I've been answering "What officer? I can't hear you" to.

Have my 40 for home defense. The little 308 is to knock them off the fence. The big 308 AR is to nail them coming down the street. :D

What kind of loads do you guys use in the .300 to get these results? I don't shoot the Blk and don't know a lot about it. Was just playing around with Quckload though, and can't get the numbers to come out that way using same barrel lengths(10") and bullets. Using near-max loads of Varget for .308 and Lil' Gun for the .300, both shooting 125gr SMK's, it looks like the .308 is 313 fps faster with 384 ft/lbs more energy. If I switch to 175SMK's(had to switch to H4198 for the .300 as there are no loads listed for Lil' Gun with heavy bullets) it even more lopsided, with the .308 having an extra 539 fps and 796 ft/lbs over the BLK.

Are there some different bullet/powder combinations you use?

Hand loading is a different animal and does make the SBR .308 more potent. However, if you're using off the shelf ammo, you're not going to get those velocities because the slower powders used are still burning when the bullet is long gone. The chrono data I saw for a 7.5" .308 was laughable, but I can't remember where it was posted.

Would like to know what powder was used. 7.5 inch barrel is really pushing it when making a SBR with 308. My 10.5 was already pushing the limit (so I thought). If you can find that info, please post a link. I reload so I can use different powders to try. Been using IMR 4064 for my 16 inch AR 308 but have to tone it down to shoot it out of the 10.5 barrel. Just picked up 1lb of 4166 (new stuff) and varget to try next spring.

Actually the chance of owning a lion is slightly better than owning a suppressor in Minnesota. The DNR wants to regulate what animals you can own, just like they want to regulate everything else they can get their hands on.

Asking if there is a "best suppressed weapon for home defense" is like asking "what's the best caliber for home defense".

I'll suggest using a pillow since you're not going to be able to use anything else legally for the foreseeable future:

"Go 20mm" - Sigfan220
""Real men shoot 20mm." - FJ540
"If I could be reincarnated as a fabric, I would come back as a 38 double-D bra." - Jesse Ventura
