Good read, but somewhat of a subjective point. Giving advice at a gun range is like giving advice at the gym. A lot of people are simply not going to listen to you, so you have to be willing to accept that words will go right in one ear and out the other. On the flip side of the shooting game, there are often numerous people at public and private ranges who troll around looking for people to correct and ways to make themselves feel important by making corrections when they're really talking out of their anus. Just like at the gym (if you go to the gym, you know the similarities and you'll get the comparison).

The author can go up to someone and give out his credentials quick and get some credibility that will convince people to listen to him. The average person, not so much. Still a good article, but something that needs to be looked at in context. Be careful about going around offering unsolicited advice at the range is all I'm saying.

I have brought this up before, I think there is a need for free or very low cost firearms instruction. It doesn't have to be alot just the bare minimum so people new to firearms (who are low income) can handle, store, load, unload, and fire the gun safely.

It seems alot of violent crime happens in the poorer parts of the cities where people may need the protection more than someone from a better off suburb and struggle to just be able to afford to buy a firearm for protection. With range time and instruction seeming to be an unaffordable luxury, where we all know it isn't a luxury though for them it might be unaffordable.

Great article. Only thing I have to add is that if you look and listen, you can tell an arrogant idiot from a scared victim trying to learn pretty easily. If it's the latter, you don't want to risk the bad ju-ju that may come back to haunt you if you DON'T help. I've seen Tootsie in person in this situation, and he always does the right thing.
