I have brought this up before, I think there is a need for free or very low cost firearms instruction. It doesn't have to be alot just the bare minimum so people new to firearms (who are low income) can handle, store, load, unload, and fire the gun safely.
It seems alot of violent crime happens in the poorer parts of the cities where people may need the protection more than someone from a better off suburb and struggle to just be able to afford to buy a firearm for protection. With range time and instruction seeming to be an unaffordable luxury, where we all know it isn't a luxury though for them it might be unaffordable.
