Mpls convention center

Postby Drewski on Thu Feb 05, 2015 7:32 pm

Anyone know if they do pat downs or have metal detectors at the convention center? Thinking about going to the bike show this weekend and wondering if I should leave the carry pc at home.

Thx

As a government building they can't ban carry, it's up to the producers of the show whether they will allow carry and what measures they will take to ensure compliance. I would be very surprised if they had magnetometers or did pat downs at the door for a motorcycle show. They certainly did not when I worked security there.

I carried at the bike show in the past, and plan to this weekend as well.

I was at the boat show a couple weekends ago and there are no searches or metal detectors.

They sure as hell did for an import car show in 2014, "Hot Import Nights": Pat downs and metal detectors. Maybe the show promoters were just playing it safe :P

I have attended the Minneapolis Progressive Intl Motorcycle Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center for the past few years. I have carried concealed in the past and have had no problems at all and will be carrying again when I attend Saturday.

Let's see, bike wallet with chain. HD primary chain as a belt. All the vest/hat pins. Not to mention steel toed boots. Metal detectors, no one would be slowed in. Pat downs? With "dunlop" disease, a pat down would be useless. :)
