It's running. It will probably be slow. The crawler is broken for a lot of sites. Some of the links are broken. No, I'm probably not going to fix it. I have no idea how long it will continue to run. I may shut it off without warning. It may stop updating for some reason. I am most certainly not going to rewrite anything or make it look pretty. It's only been auto updating (every 30 minutes) for a few hours. The oldest stuff is from 5 days ago. I don't know if it will clean up after itself.
And so on.

Necrobump.

If no one uses this, I'm going to turn it off.

Can never get it to load even now. Too bad there would be MAJOR work to make something that was as good as it was in it's day.

See, that's the problem. If someone used it, I would move it somewhere more reliable. But I just checked and it looks like it hasn't been crawling 'gunstuff' in over two weeks. Some of the other sections work fine. Oh well.
I'll let it die.

Deal seeker used to patrol the web and post nearly anything from most sites out there that had items for sale on them from most gun type web sites.

Closest now is http://www.riverofguns.com/cb/index.pl?sf=59 and it's nowhere even close to as good as DS was.

do you think its good enough that if one of the talented people on here were to put something together like it that they could turn it into a commercial site? Sounds like its possible but there is no financial incentive to resurrect/recreate it.

It's GPL and there is enough info in this thread to get it up and running. The source used to be on the main website, and there is reference to a Github page that doesn't exist anymore either. I've still got a copy. Have at it.

I did find out that the Craigslist entries in
Code: Select all
lib/central_settings.pm
caused the spider to hang and eventually kill the server.

I don't use it enough to maintain the spider, which is really the only thing that can break. The only reason I brought it up was because I'm planning on retiring the server it's running on.
