I wonder if they're still using the same part-time "gunsmith" who butchered the installation of a rear sight on my Beretta PX4 a couple of years back.

Haha, they broke the sight on a Ruger MkII I brought in to them once. Insisted that it was broken when I brought it in.

On the plus side, they didn't even charge me for the work!

Blonde, I think. He married her and moved to the country she's from. Haven't seen him since.

I think the new owner is motivated to have a successful business. I had a nice conversation with him not too long ago. I was gonna tell him about their "reputation" but I figured he already knew. We'll see.

I was in there a few weeks ago, and talked with the new owner. I have to say that he is really cool and we had a really nice conversation. Sounds like he has big plans and I am willing to forgive and give these guys a second chance now. It seems like everyone else is the same staff unfortunately... But I have to say that the new owner is in my good graces.

Did they look at you like what the hell are you doing here when you walked in?

Sorry to drag up an old post but was searching for a gunsmith south of the river and this thread come up. Went in there a few weeks ago for the first time and this was the reaction my wife and I got so this thread made me laugh. Was looking at the guns in the case for about 2 minutes before anyone even said anything even though there were several people behind the counter not even working with other customers or anything. It was a bit weird. Anyway the prices were higher than I was seeing elsewhere so I just left. Don't plan to go back, and I live in Lakeville.

Good to hear they are keeping up their time-honored tradition!

Maybe they all got their start working at Gouger Mountain??? :P :lol: :roll:

I never even heard of the place, much less went there, so I'm feeling grateful for that.....

On a parallel subject, I just ignored the rude hippopotamus at Gunstop, and Larry and Howard before him always wanted to pet Sasha, and Larry is just as big a sucker for Annabelle.

I used to work in Lakeville so I stopped in there a few times years ago to browse, and I could never get anyone to break away from telling hunting stories to their buddies to ring me up. It seemed more like the social hour than business hours to me.

My 2 Cents ==

My experience has been exactly the same as 99% of the previous posts on this place. Complete indifference to you when you walk in. The long-haired guy just stares you down from his seated position at the rear of the store. Bob engages, but once you look at the limited/old inventory and prices, it is not hard to conclude that they're selling very few guns. +

My friends and I keep wondering if the gun store isn't just a front for some other business that makes the money? Don't know what that might be, but I don't see how selling guns (and not to folks like me) could possibly by paying the monthly bills.

Fleet Farm and Gander Mtn are so close you can throw a rock and hit either one from there. My gun shop of choice is (of course) Thunder Johns!
