AR pistols for the most part look stupid. Go with the 300 BO rifle.

Amen to that. Plus, they're almost totally useless. Get the rifle.

300 blk is great in short barrels, but AR pistols are pretty worthless without a stock. I vote rifle in whatever caliber flavor you want.

Yup. AR pistol is kind of a gun with no purpose other than noise and a few tacticool points, while a 300 BLK you can do stuff with. PARTICULARLY if the suppressor bill goes through!!

Yes I have to disagree with just about everyone, living down here and shotgun land I use my 300 pistol for deer hunting. guess I don't know how it works considering I haven't shot anything yet but I sure Carried it
a lot this year.
My 300 rifle I use that up north when I camped out in the forest in below zero weather never saw anything to shoot but I also carried it a lot so in my opinion they both have their place. get both.

I've successfully pounded nails with a rock before, but I'd still pick the hammer every time if theres one available.

I will stick my neck out on this one... I do hunt deer with my 300 WTF pistol. I am in the shotgun zone so it is the best "hammer" I have availble to me. I have been activly hunting with it for 6 years. Long before the AAC Blackout was mentioned. I have taken somewhere around 15+ deer with mine. And before anyone says BS, I am hunting in the intensive harvest area where the limit is 5... I am getting 2250FPS with a 125 Sierra bullet that is 2 moa when using my sling a post as a rest. It works well. It works well for me because I practice (A LOT) and am selective on my shots. I dont shoot at running or trotting deer. I wait for broadside or stationary deer. I am happy to say I have not lost a deer I have shot at with this firearm. If the shot is in the chest or head, is is time to cut meat. Period... No amount of power is going to make up for a bad shot.

Yes, lots of us in the "shotgun zone" use AR pistols for deer.

How many of us would if we could use a real rifle?

It's a legal corundum, the thing is not that ballistically useful, but it's better than the alternative.

If I could choose, I would hunt deer around here with a .308 bolt gun, not an ar pistol and certainly not the abortion called a slug shotgun. Given I can't choose, I will probably stick to the pistol.

I totally concur and mine is very accurate as well. I have practiced shots passed 200 yards and get good effect on target. Though I would not advocate shots at that range. However it's still quite possible and effective.

I have taken deer at 150 yards with it. All my deer have been one shot kills. I use the 110 VMax or 125 grain Hornady round. You can poo poo it all you want but proof is in my freezer every year. I have never wasted a shot and cleanly killed my deer with one shot. I probably won't have an intensive harvest next year so I will be back to one tag but if it comes out into my kill zone it will be in my freezer. It's hardly a rock for a hammer. It's the right tool for the job in my area. I have been hunting for well over 30 years with rifle, shotgun, matchlocks, flintlocks, percussion, cartridge black powder, lever guns, bolts, semis, and bows. I have taken deer with them all. In the area I hunt now this works the best for me and extends my range over my slug gun or regular handgun.

So I fully endorse a .300 Blackout AR pistol for deer hunting.

Ballistically it gets the job done.
