Don't get me wrong, I would like nothing better that to see it pass, but given Dayton's position on the issue I felt it really didn't stand a chance. In light of the fact that it is bundled as an omnibus bill it may pass. Time will tell.

Does line item veto apply only to appropriations bills, or can Dayton use it on any omnibus bill?

Holy hell, this is actually happening!

If you know any individual cops who are supportive, now would be a GREAT time for them to write the governor!

Remember, by law, they can't take their work suppressor home with them.

Well, yes and no. They said Dayton promises to veto and gave an excuse that a suppressor reduces the safety of police.

Minnesota Senate makes surprise turn to legalize gun silencers - TwinCities.com

Minnesota's Senate added language to a bill Thursday that would legalize gun silencers — a surprise development as majority Democrats had shown little interest in changing the state's gun laws and a direct challenge to Gov. Mark Dayton's promise that such a measure would meet his veto pen.

The silencer language was added to a grab bag of policy changes that would also mandate external investigations for officer-involved deaths, set ground rules for law enforcement's use of drones and restore voting rights to felons after they're released from prison.

You know, there would be one really easy way to win the argument about whether suppressors are really so stealthy. Bring in a capable speaker/amp system to the capitol and play a recording of a regular gunshot (i.e. to achieve full volume) and then play a suppressed shot. Let legislators, gov. goofy, and other detractors hear for themselves that these devices don't work like the movies portray them. Facts are facts. Even entrenched people with their head in the sand can be shown the light.

They sure do like to call these suppressors by the wrong name, don't they.

Who is the person making comments on that article named Shootist? I would put money on it that it's Heather trying to distract.

Of course the media isn't concerned with all the regulation, cost, and process to actually purchase a suppressor and the fact that if a criminal wants one they can already easily make one, They keep stressing that shot spotters won't be able to pick up the sound of someone being murdered, so I guess if true that would be just like stabbings, hit and runs, beatings, etc. I guess I didn't think shot spotters actually prevented crime anyway?? Or maybe they think when a bad guy fires a gun he'll know the sound was picked up so they'll just stick around and wait for the police to show up.

I just emailed the jerk. I was nice and polite. I pointed out that if 39 states allow ownership with no problems, why shouldn't Minnesotans allow this. Felt like saying the democrats are toast next election but I bit my lip. Lets hope it makes it to his desk. If he vetos it, hope we have enough votes to over ride his dumb arse.
