My tinnitus from the Marines approves of legalizing anything that makes my guns less loud.

The Senate omnibus bill is getting a vote today in the House. It should pass and go on to the governor. After it becomes law it goes into effect on August 1st. Too bad my summer vacation in MN will be over by then. No suppressed shooting in MN for me until Christmas.

Right now the Gov is threatening a veto.

Please contact Gov. Mark Dayton and urge him to reconsider his threatened veto of this bill. A reasoned, sound argument from gun owners and specifically NFA gun owners could go a long way. He is characterizing this as a public safety issue that endangers police and "innocent bystanders" (his words from his letter threatening veto). It shows how much Hollywood hysteria surrounds this debate and the lack of sound facts.
If suppressors were a crime problem, our streets would already be awash in them as 39 states including the border states of ND, SD and WI already allow them and criminals wouldn't be stopping at the border just because they aren't yet legal here. The MN House and Senate have heard us and passed it, we need Governor Mark Dayton to hear us now. Please act.

Remember this is not just a silencer bill or a gun bill. It is the Omnibus Public Safety Finance and Policy Bill. I copied it to a Word document; it is 165 pages with about 30,488 words. It is huge. The silencer portion takes up only a bit more than 2 pages with 625 words. This is about 2% of the bill. Dayton is going to have a ton of reasons to sign, not sign or veto the bill. As far as I know everything that was put into the bill would have passed on the floor without much hassle anyway, it they ever got a hearing to begin with. But since there isn't enough time to consider each bill on its own merits they get shoved into one huge bill.

This bill appropriates millions of dollars for state programs. It involves school safety, hazardous material programs, terrorism, firefighters, sex trafficking, accounting of rape kits and a long list of other stuff that may be potentially helpful to the state. Does Dayton want to be the man who reduces protection for victims of sex trafficking and takes money from firefighters? Probably not. I don't think Dayton will veto the bill.

That said, anyone who writes to the Governor should politely ask him to sign the bill for reasons other than silencers as well as trying to educate him on the benefits of silencer use.

So is this considered an appropriations bill? Can Dayton use the line item veto?

Sorry folks, your contacting the wrong person. Mumble nuts has his mind made up. Contact every democrat in your district and tell them if this bill get vetoed, you will vote republican across the board! I already emailed that low life chicken **** and a week ago. Never got a response. Contacted each of my representatives and got a response within 3 days. I was nice and never made threats. I pointed out that 39 states allow it with zero issues. Its crunch time folks. Do what you think is best.

I cannot disagree with Bearcatrp. Do both.
I like Bearcatrp did not get a response. I will be contacting all dems to make sure they will override the veto if he follows through on his threat.

Is there a page that shows who actually voted for the suppressor bill and who did not?

Please call the governor's office and voice your support for suppressors. They're getting a lot of calls from the other side to veto.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

The line item veto can only be used on appropriations items - not policy items.
