Why the hell would they do that? I'd have to go back and count votes, but don't we already have a veto-proof majority?

Because they're spineless politicians?

WTF? How friggin stupid is that? With that being just mentioned tells me us minnesotans are screwed again due to the two step political shuffle. I just shake my head when I hear stupid crap like this.

I work in IT and haven't seen any viruses directly caused by FB. The ads can sometimes problematic, but ads on any site can have that problem. I do agree that FB is worthless, but for better or worse GOCRA uses it for daily communication. If you want to know what's going on, ya gotta use it. Don't need to login though.... Spin up a Linux VM if you're paranoid. :ugeek:

GOCRA uses emails for important communication. Facebook is a poor substitute. If you're not signed up at gocra.mn/join, you're missing a lot of the info.

If they are willing to offer up this to get rid of felon voting rights restoration then they are not our friends. They need to know this.

The authors are not on the conference committee, nor part of House leadership.

respectfully, they don't need to be. Call them and let them put pressure on their leadership. Call the leadership as well. Call every last one of them. They all need to know we won't forget if they allow this to be bargained away. If they allow this to be bargained away, they are not our friends.

They would do that to save the other bills in the Omnibus package if it turns out Dayton is really serious. I don't think they have the votes to override.

If Brian Johnson told you that, sounds like maybe the republicans have already blinked. Hope I'm wrong...made my calls, wrote emails, called Dayton, sent another $25 to GOCRA, but I suspect the suppressor bill is toast.

You're arguing with the President of GOCRA on what is needed for the passage of GOCRA sponsored bills. Perhaps he knows a bit more than you do on what is *actually* happening at the capitol.

There are times to call your representatives, and there are times not to. Calling gun friendly representatives and Senators and getting all angry at them because of here-say and internet rumors is just plain stupid, and doesn't do us any favors.

There is a very delicate chess game being played right now. It doesn't help when someone unfamiliar with the game stumbles into the room, and starts moving pieces around in an attempt to "help". If you truly want to help, follow Andrew's advice.

The suppressor provision was added to both omnibus bills with overwhelming majorities, and both omnibus bills passed their respective houses with overwhelming majorities. This is simply *not* a partisan issue that the Dems want to kill. Could there be political shenanigans in conference committee? Possibly, but unlikely with the gun stuff. There simply isn't any significant opposition to any of the pro-gun policy changes - except that Gov Dayton has threatened a veto. He's the one we need to be focused on.

Are there Republicans who would be willing to throw out suppressors (or anything else) to get rid of the restoration of voting rights for felons on probation or parole? Yes, I'm sure there are. The real question is, is the leadership in the Senate willing to take felon voting rights out of the bill if the Republicans sacrifice suppressors? Every indication is simply no. Killing suppressors is simply not important to them, as evidenced by the collective voting record of their caucus. If the Dems decide to pull voting for felons, it's going to be in exchange for something that they actually care about. Suppressors just aint it.

Right now the only person that needs to be flooded with calls is Gov Dayton.
