Why have sales drifted to Armslist?

Postby gjlog on Wed May 20, 2015 8:05 pm

Don't mean to offend anyone in asking this. I've not been paying close attention, however it seems like sales on MNGuntalk have really dropped off and Armslist sales have picked up. If that's accurate. why?
Thanks,
GJ

I think MGT is great but Armslist has a wider audience for buying and selling.

MUCH wider audience. Faster sale.

Minuses include more creepers though...
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

I've sold some guns and accessories off of this site, all with good results since people here are all pretty good to deal with. That being said, the market here doesn't alway support the sale. When you have a very niche weapon, it's hard to find someone who will drop the money on it locally. The market on this forum is maybe 100-200 people. Armslist and others allow you to reach tens of thousands, or more.

In my case of selling a literal ton of brass there isn't enough volume here even giving a better deal than on other sites. One bump and die rule doesn't help but it does keep the clutter down. You do what you have to do. I will typically list something here for slightly less and if it doesn't sell it's off to other sites. THR, Armslist or some of the MN arms for sale sites.

Stupid rule structure on classifieds, due to whiny piss-ants complaining about people commenting on their ads. Mostly the result of outrageous and/or ignorant pricing, and a community that called them out.

Other than that, generally low traffic, as a result of the exodus good posters, to placate the whiny bitchy little piss-ants. Add a sprinkling of goodwin moderation driving the folks away and you have a scenario in which no one wants to waste their time here.

I don't use Armslist much, but if I care to make sales, some of the FB classifieds/groups outpace armslist or any local board(s).

There are many more out there, just have to spend some time looking about for them.

Where else can you list a box of AutoMatch (325rds) for $85? Louisgunsales in Chaska has an ad up now. I called to check on their price and he said, yep! But he could let me have a box for $70. However, they wouldn't have them until Tuesday. So I said "great, put ten boxes aside for me". See you Tuesday!
