Safe at home should not be an issue for you. My understanding of the program from knowing someone who has used it is that law enforcement entities can get correct information when it is needed for a legitimate law enforcement purposes, which purchase and carry permit background checks should be. The person that I know who has used it had no problems getting a permit to purchase.

it's been a while since i had a permit to purchase. (have permit to carry). but i thought they didn't mail them and you had to pick them up? or was it just my backwards city that did that? it's been a number of years since i had one so i'm sure it could have changed

Coon Rapids calls you and you need to go in and pick it up...at which time they copy your drivers license. My first PTP with them took exactly 7 days. My last 2 (I get a new one every year whether I need it or not), took 3 and 4 days respecfully. :)

I swung by MLPS today to renew my PTP. The person that assisted me was very helpful. They even had a survey to fill out once I went through the process. I gave them high marks. They have also simplified the application, which took much less time than the previous years.

Follow up on this PTP thread I started on 8/3. I actually didn't make it in until 8/5 to submit my app. Heres my timeline to simplify things. Applied 8/5, Permit issued on 8/6, Permit mailed from sppd on 8/11 to my SAH po box. SAH envelope mailed to my home postmarked 8/17 and received today 8/19. Two weeks total time but would have been 7 or 8 days without Safe at Home so sppd I would say is quick. On to the next step buying my first handgun for me. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=54619 Thanks members

They have also simplified the application ...

They should be using the application issued by the MN BCA (see my previous post) and no other one.

Did they give you the receipt portion of the application?

If it takes longer than 7 calander days to receive a ptp, please pm me. We want to keep track of any statute violations.

Submitted 8/5, mailed out 8/11. Sounds like it was within 7 days.

I printed and submitted the application you posted. They gave me a copy of the receipt portion only because I asked them for it.

I believe they did use the MN BCA form from the link and I also received the receipt.
