Gun values?

Postby shovelheadmike on Mon Dec 14, 2015 11:25 am

I'm looking for a little help with value for a couple of shot guns and a rifle.A woman I know, inherited these some years ago and would like to sell them.I've done some google search's and looked at gunbroker, armslist, etc. and it seems the prices are all over the place. The last time I did this,I went to 3 gunsmiths and got 3 prices,I could do that again, but before I do,anyone one here know someone? The shotguns are Ithaca model 37's, 12ga. and a 20 ga.
I think the 12ga.is early 80's,the 20ga. 70's? The rifle is a Remington model 141 gamemaster 30 Rem. made between 1936 and 1950,low serial # 25XXX. I kinda like this one!
Any and all info is appreciated,
Thanks,

Need pics. Prices vary for condition and also for features or aspects of the gun. ie vent ribs, pads, added holes drilled for scopes or peep sights etc.

I usually refer to GunBroker to figure out how much something is worth. Look at buy-it-now prices or do a search for completed items. You can't judge by the current price or opening bid values because that doesn't relate to how much they actually sell for. Obviously finding info for used guns is harder that new ones, but as long as the model isn't too rare there should be enough data to make a reasonable estimate.

If you want a professional appraisal of your firearms, I believe local member Squib Joe could help you out.

This is best, find out what they are really selling for to get a true idea of what they are worth. What they ask or even the buy now are in many cases are much more than it is worth and the gun will be for sale for awhile. I love it when a guy tells me that the gun he is selling is worth XXX because that is what they are selling for on Gun Broker. No they are not selling for, that is what they are asking and the gun may be listed for a long, long time.

Finally got around to a few pictures, not the best, but something. The 30 Rem on the bottom looks to have a replaced rear site.
Any and all replies welcome. She just wants fair market price for these. But I've been looking and I see what people ask and what they get are two differant things.
Thanks again,
