There's a difference between blacking out the rear sights and taping them over. You still need the rear notch to be present to line up the front sight.
Sure. And I'm assuming by "taped up" he meant covering just the dot(s) with black electrical tape.
I doubt very much he's out there doing a masking tape job on the rear end of a pistol. But, I could be wrong, lol.
