Sure. And I'm assuming by "taped up" he meant covering just the dot(s) with black electrical tape.
I doubt very much he's out there doing a masking tape job on the rear end of a pistol. But, I could be wrong, lol.

I was told by observers and attendee that the sights were covered with tape completely to make them unusable.
