Thank you for the explanation. Makes total sense.

I just have a little issue with the information going out on the airwaves where anyone with a scanner (or on internet connection to a scanner) can listen for addresses that have "permit to purchase." (once again, in my town I hear on the scanner things like, "... 354 go to XXXX Anystreet, please be advised there is an ongoing dispute, permit to purchase at that address...")

My thought on those types of situations would be to have the dispatcher send that information to the officers computer terminal in the squad car and simply say over the air to "...further information on MDT..." I think that would keep things more secret and also allow for paper trail.
