Carbine pronunciation

CARBINE
How do YOU pronounce it? I've heard it both ways, I don't think either is wrong, just thought I'd do a quick poll about it because it's Sunday.

INSURANCE is another word that seems to have a pronunciation difference based on your geography.
Deo Adjuvante Non Timendum - (with the help of God there is nothing to be afraid of)
Spectamur Agendo - (We are proven by our actions)
Non Ducor, Duco - (I am not led, I lead)

I pronounce it both ways depending on which way the speaker is using. If the speaker uses "car-bean", I use the other and vice versa. If I feel like being particularly difficult, I pronounce it "carbin" like I have heard some say it.

If I am talking to my wife its, "grab me that short gun, dear." :)

I go with "carbon-ay" and insist that it's a French word.

Both are correct, although car-byne is more commonly used in Great Britain and Canada and car-bean in the United States
