What's the political makeup of Sherborne County? The maps I can find show it to be a red county. Are the Sheriff and county prosecutor closet leftists?

Can't speak to the County Attorney, but Sherburne is highly red and the Sheriff is a strong 2A supporter. The prosecutor is the one that made the decision to charge in this case. We don't agree with their interpretation of the law.
