Kimber Ultra Carry II .45 ACP

Postby xchief1 on Tue Feb 10, 2009 6:39 pm

I recently purchased a Kimber Ultra Carry II. :D While I was going through the box I discovered there was not a manufacturers registration card for the warranty.
I contacted the store and they said none of the other Kimbers had a card in the boxes but I could register it online. When I tied to do that in the Purchase Confirmation area in their website, it asks for an Authenticity Code. I don't have one of those either. Can anyone who is familiar with the registration process for Kimber help me out? Is the Authenticity Code the serial number? Or has the store just screwed up?
Thanks-xchief1

I have bought 3 Kimber 1911's. None of them had registration cards.

I knew there was some reason besides money, that I didn't ever buy a Kimber. :D

Thanks for the comments. I guess there's a 33% chance you get a registration card.

In MN, it is against state law to require product registration in order to be eligible for a warranty.

True. A receipt should be all you need in MN for warranty service, but some folks still prefer to register in order to receive notice of recalls or such.

I have shot the Ultra Carry II (3") and it is a nice shot [a bit of recoil compared to a government model, but easy enough to put 100+ rounds through at the range]. New, under 500 rounds and it was VERY ACCURATE, either that or I was having an extremely good day ;-)

They are worth a premium without a doubt. But, as usual, you pay for the name. I shoot a 5" S&W SW1911PD and my ONLY gripe about that weapon is the difficulty of reassembly after a field strip. Easily as accurate as most high end brand names [honestly not sure if the barrel is match grade or not, but I would use it in a match without hesitation]. Cheaper than the Kimber, but also paying somewhat for the name. I guess you have to balance the facts and choose what works best for you.

I ordered a set of rosewood grips last week for this gun. They came today and I put them on. They really look nice.

Those registration cards only guarantee you will receive tons of junk mail from every single business they sell your info too. If you send the thing in they sell your info. I just throw any fricken cards away! ;)

Warranty issues are easier to deal with if you register the weapon [unless it is a Taurus, in which case, it really doesn't matter].

If the registration doesn't have the usual quiz about your hobbies and likes and dislikes, I'll send it in, but almost all of them now-a-days axe you your income level, hobbies, reading enjoyment, pets, children, you name it they want to know, what do you suppose they do with that info? That's right SELL IT!
