I have shot the Ultra Carry II (3") and it is a nice shot [a bit of recoil compared to a government model, but easy enough to put 100+ rounds through at the range]. New, under 500 rounds and it was VERY ACCURATE, either that or I was having an extremely good day

They are worth a premium without a doubt. But, as usual, you pay for the name. I shoot a 5" S&W SW1911PD and my ONLY gripe about that weapon is the difficulty of reassembly after a field strip. Easily as accurate as most high end brand names [honestly not sure if the barrel is match grade or not, but I would use it in a match without hesitation]. Cheaper than the Kimber, but also paying somewhat for the name. I guess you have to balance the facts and choose what works best for you.
You could get a new lease on life -- if only you didn't need the first and last month in advance.
