Anybody here have their own range ?

Postby BigJim on Sun Apr 05, 2009 7:13 pm

Trying to find a place to try out my witness I bought a month ago ... :(

Every "major" range is closed, booked or whatever and am getting bummed a bit...
I remember there was some guy in mlps that had a soundproof range in his basement or maybe that was a fairy tale,dunno.. :P

:thankyou:

Is there a reason you don't want to go to Bill's or Burnsville?

Years ago the Parade of Homes featured a house with a range in the basement. I can't remember where it was though.

Thanks guys,I am kinda scraping by since I was just laid off last week so the fees are kinda harsh at this time and just figured someone just outside the burbs had some land with a range setup,my uncles ex-GF has a little setup in her back yard in harris,mn but that is a bit of a drive to fire off 150 rds as that is all I have for ammo and that was $80 ...

I might just have to sell the witness as well and stick with the 870 as my last line of defense.

Thanks again for all the info and advice guys...

Could go to a Steel shoot and carpool with somebody.

$14 for unlimited time is awful cheap I think. Still I don't do it 3 times a week either. Meet a friend there or ask to meet somebody at BPR and you could split the cost of $19, so that gets you down to about $10 to shoot with another person on the same lane.

No offense, really, but I'd be nervous about inviting someone over to my own little secret range that I'd not met. Hit a 2nd Saturday Breakfast, or a Gopher event and your wheels may very well become greased so to speak.

It is not a hard thing to convince somebody around here to meet at the range to try out some guns. Free can be a limiting factor though. Good luck, if you find a basement range then more power to you!

Spend $30 and get a 1 year membership to Gopher Campfire in Hutch and shoot all you want for the price of gas. Talk a couple of friends into the same deal and a shooting session could be less than a buck.

Hmmm, there's no waiting list? Could this be the closest range to the metro area without a long waiting list?

I think Beaverbrook is closer than either. I also believe we have some openings.

I'm pretty interested in getting a membership at Beaverbrook. Perhaps you can answer a few questions. From my understanding the rifle range is 100yards. Say I want to shoot at 50 yards or 25 yards, can a person set up target stands at whatever distances they want up to the 100 yards or are you pretty much stuck at 100 yards all the time? Pardon my ignorance, but Bill's is the only range I shoot at so I don't really know all proper etiquette. All my other shooting gets done on my own land at my cabin.

My other question is what are the rules on how rapidly you can shoot? I don't really speed shoot often but I also don't like being restricted to only 1 shot every couple seconds. Thanks in advance and sorry for the thread drift.
