If you could buy any gun

Postby JoeH on Tue Apr 07, 2009 7:59 pm

If you could buy any gun, what would it be and why? Your budget is $500-$1000. It can be a long gun, handgun, whatever.

Not trying to be sarcastic, but in that price range I have already bought it. Now if you would say ANY gun, in my case it would be a very expensive gun and I would have to think about it for a bit.

Off the top of my head I guess it would be a full auto in .22 rimfire. :D

Tough question based on how it is worded. The next gun on my list to acquire is a Ruger M77 Magnum in .375 H&H. However that will run more than your price range. Next gun down in your acceptable range would be a Remington Model 81 in .35 Remington, just because I have always wanted one in that has spent its life in a safe. Now if I was to be limited to one gun in that range period it would be my .357 revolver. If funds were unlimited then it would be a either a Wessly Richards or Holland and Holland side by side 12 gauge custom made and fitted.

My dreamgun is a 4" Colt Python but there is no way that I can get that for under 1K these days. I'm waiting for the Python-bubble to burst. So for under 1K I would have to go with a good condition 1903 Springfield.
I have a Colt Python and you don't so what do I care...

OK, playing within the guidelines, I guess it would be a mint blue S&W model 58 or maybe a model 13. A blue S&W model 58 is my first choice, but I am not paying the $700 to $800 that people are asking for them.

At the Mankato Gun show I was so busy at my table that I didn't get the chance to walk around and check things out. Later in the day a guy was carry an older S&W box with a very nice model 13 in it that he just bought off a table as a private sale at what I think was a very very good price. Bummer.

my dream gun was a 6" python but I was lucky enough to find one so for a dream gun I don't own it would be a sniper/target m14/m1a1 setup with very nice glass a good looking custom wood stock
living the dream ...just haven't figured out whose dream it is

Maybe a Ruger #1 in 22-250 or a AMT .30 carbine.

Hey wait, need a rules clarification here. Are we being given a thousand dollars? So could we use that 1000 and augment it with other funds or could we buy mitliple guns up to $1000? An how about optics, accessories, ammo does that have to fall within the $1000 too or can we spend more on that?

This is my favorite game by the way. Kid in the candy store here.

Changing my mind. It would be the greatest battle implement ever, and M-1 Garand.

OK, I probably couldn't find a Medusa for less than a grand. My choice would then be a Ruger NRA Ranch .223. :geek:

My lovely bride told me that I should go buy myself a gun for my birthday. My budget is up to $1000.

I'm trying to decide between a few different guns that I've had my eye on. I'm not really looking for suggestions. But since I'm doing this exercise for myself, I thought I'd see how some of you would handle it.
