I know a guy who owns a couple Hi-points ... But we don't talk about it much :-)

Seriously, he has a couple access boxes with hi-points in them. Cheap enough to afford a couple extra door guns or truck guns or etc...

If I do buy one, I'll paint it blue and stencil the word "RYOBI" on the sides before bringing it to the range for the first time. Hopefully, it'll draw less attention that way...

How about:
91/30 Mosin Nagant Sniper rifle------------------ 700
Old Cast iron 16" school bell on stand (or suitable sustitute)
set at 1200 yards------------------------------------- 75
Tank of gas to get to buddy's land up north
with an extra friend or two (sans wives)---------- 50
Case of beer and a handfull of cigars -------------- 50
Case of Mil Surp ammo ------------------------------ 90
Lunch at a small town Bar -------------------------- 35
______________________________________________________
------------------------------------------------------- 1000

Great way to kill $1000 and come away with a rifle and memories!

Okay, you guys talked me into it: I'm going to see what I can do about picking up a Hi Point at the next gun show.

Can I count on some of you guys meeting me there and forming a human barricade around me as I walk to the car after the purchase?

Just put a brown paper bag around it when you walk out, nobody will care :D

Shop around though. I've noticed the "Carry Badge and Hi-Point" guy has HIGH prices. That and I would prefer not to give my money to someone who will say anything to make the sale.....

Check Metro Pawn first. Heck, call Mark K at Koselski's and arrange for him to bring one to the next gun show. There's also always Discount Gun dealer.com or Bud's Guns

I was thinking of putting the brown paper bag over my head when walking out after the purchase, but I like your idea better.

I'm in Metro on a weekly basis, and have never seen a hi point there. Not that they haven't ever had one, but I haven't seen it if they have..... Could you imagine the price on a used hipoint? $54 or somewhere about there? I'd buy 2.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

Since it's under $1000.00 that leaves the Kimber I want out. Maybe a Glock 19, 26, 30SF or one of those black rifles.

I really like my GLOCK 19, Tru Dot night sights, and Lasermax. It's perfect for everyday carry, but, I'd like to get a nice looking BBQ gun to show off! :P

Special Grade Garand from the CMP or the Correct Grade and some ammo.

My choice of gun in that price range would be a FN Five-seveN. (I'm trying to be more like DeanC.)

As for just a hair above your price range, I really want a Rohrbaugh. (I guess I'm trying to be more like Cobb on this one.)

As for Hi-Points, I ended up picking up one of their carbines in 9mm a few months back. Haven't even shot it yet. Although I didn't buy from them, I've heard good things about the Woodbury dealer that holds itself out as specializing in HP sales. I think they go by Polar Bear Ordnance.
