Anybody have AK and FAL tools I could borrow?

Postby White Horseradish on Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:57 am

I have a coupe of kits that I bought in the days when they were still reasonable. I have the parts, but I don't have the tools. Considering that I am unlikely to build another kit ever again (I just saw a $449 AK kit the other day), it really does not make a whole lot of sense for me to buy the equipment. I wouldn't be averse to renting, though.

So, for the AK I need the riveting tools and for the FAL I need whatever gizmo is used to time the barrel. I don't really know if I need to have an action wrench or can get by with a vise and aluminum jaw liners. I suppose whoever has a tool for this would know. I would also need headspace gauges to figure out what size locking shoulder I would need.

If you ask nice, Ttootsie might stop by with his pipe wrench to lend a hand.
If you're reading this, there are better than even odds you are a d-bag.

Ttootsie only works on AR's. Thank god.

But he has been known to cut shotgun barrels with a pipe cutter on occasions.

If you have any luck finding tools, let me know. I have a few kits that I'm looking to build soon.

PM me on the FALs, you can come over and use my setup, but I don't lend, due to some things not being returned in the past.

When you say all the parts do you have 100% receivers, or flats?
Didn't think there were many Ak builders here.... There's at least one around, but I don't think he has a bending jig.
Anybody want a Yugo M70AB2 kit? I'm looking to sell it and build my fixed stock kit instead.

What, you think I don't have a pipe wrench of my own? Of course, now that I said that, he might want to come over just to see whose is bigger...

Thanks! That would be perfect. I wouldn't have to worry about losing the stuff.

I have one completely finished and heat treated receiver and a kit to go with it.
